The next night the slaves go wild. You watch
them through a crack in the door of the hut. They
bang drumbs, ring bells, sing, and dance a frenzied,
jerky dance.
"Ffloyd is calm. He goes over the plan carefully.
"The path to the place of sacrifice," he says,
"passes along the edgie of a high cliff. The edge of
the cliff will be to our right. Do you have that?"
  "Yes."
"The slaves eat a plant that increases their re-
ligious madness. They will not be totally aware of
what they are doing. Their attention will not be
focused on us.
"Ten fee below the cliff edge, at the point I will
indicate, there's a ledge- a very narrow ledge.
When I give the signal, count to ten and jump to
the ledge. From there it should be easy. But don't
miss the ledge!"
  "Never," you murmur.
