Under the leadership of a woman named Car- olyn, you and four others begin the march to the control tower. According to Jonathan's plan, both attacks will begin at dawn. While his group storms the man- sion, your group will take the tower. This proves easier to talk about than to do, you realize as you get close to it. The tower that houses the control center looks like a long needle with an egg on the top. There is an elevator, but that is operated by the tower commander from within the egg. "We need a volunteer," Carolyn explains, "who's willing to climb the outside wall. It's over a thousand feet up." YOu find yourself volunteering, and she accepts, handing you four saucer-shaped suction cups- two for your hands and two to attach to your feet. You start your climb about an hour before dawn. The idea is to reach the top- without being seen by the tower commander- before the attck is to begin. At dawn you will crawl through a win- dow, take the commander prisoner, and send the elevator for the other four. You walk to the case of the tower and place a suction cup against the hard concrete. Then an- other. And another. And slowly you ascent. By the time you find yourself beneat the con- trol center, there is a weak glow on the eastern horizon. But the light does not cheer you, for what it reveals is the smooth underside of the egg. In order to reach a window you will have to crawl across that . . hanging upside down over a thou- sand feet of empty space. Go on to the next page
