What is frontside and what the heck is backside all about?
Basically, frontside and backside is all about turning and the direction you do it in! People refer to it as "FS" and "BS" for short. Lazy lazy people....
Frontside (FS - FrontSide!)
Best way to remember this is to think of that fact that, it's called frontside because your front is ALWAYS in front. So if you're regular stance (yeah dude) and you turn 180 degress to your left, that's frontside because you're front goes around! If your goofy (hah) then a 180 to your right side is frontside!
Backside (BS - BackSide )
Just the complete reverse of FS. It's your back that's in front that's all. If you're a regular stance (woo high five) then doing 180 do your right is backside, because your back goes in front! If you're goofy (meh) then a 180 to your left side is backside!
Grinds and Stuff
Simple! Say you have a nice waxed curb/box or something and you're gonna grind it, then a FS 50-50 (or whatever tickles your pickle at the time...) would mean that your toes would be facing the curb/box. Backside would mean your toes are facing away from the curb/box!
Hope you found that useful! Go post in the guestbook about this right away!
