What is I Am Sam all about? Well it is about a man named Sam Dawson who is mentally challenged and has a daughter named Lucy. Lucy is taken away from Sam because the social services think that he is incapable of being a good father becuase of his condition. This movie is a very touching film and I was nearly brought to tears by it. The film is unforgettable. Sean Penn plays Sam Dawson, the man
whose daughter was taken away from him by social services. Sam faces a lot of challenges because he has the mind of a 7 year old child. Social services took away his daughter because when she turns eight years old, she will already be smarter than him. Sam loves Lucy so much, and he is smart enough to get a lawyer and to try and get Lucy back. Sam's bold courage shows that even the mentally challenged can do something about their situation. Even though Sam has the brain of a child, he has the heart of a true father, a father who wants nothing more than to love his daughter.
Michelle Pfifer plays a lawyer named Rita who at first, did not want to help Sam with his case. Sam had no money, and Rita was a high-profile lawyer and was definitely in the business for the money. However, Sam continuously asked Rita to help him. Rita did not take Sam's request too seriously because of his mental state, but the more time Sam spent around her, Rita began to see the loving and caring side of Sam and she agreed to help him get his daughter back. Rita played a crucial part in the trial and treated Sam with love, dignity, and the utmost respect. Sam is shown here in these pictures with his daughter Lucy
In this scene, Lucy snuck out of her foster parent's house to see her dad.
All Sam wants is his little girl.
In this pic, Lucy reads a bedtime story to her dad. I am being totally honest when I say that I Am Sam is the only movie which I truly enjoyed. There are a lot of other films that I like, but this one is different. It makes you feel good inside. I highly recommend that you watch this movie if you haven't already. It will change the way you think. Return to
