Skate Trick Tips:
Ollie
The ollie is the basis for almost
every skateboard trick. Nine out of ten tricks require an ollie
of some sort. An ollie is simply jumping into the air while the
board is gripped onto your feet. Once you master this, if an on
expected dog pops out in the middle of the road from nowhere, you
would need to ollie over it and keep going.
Step 1: Place your front foot in the middle of the board and your
back foot on the tip of the tail(back). This is a great foot
placement to make you get height.
Step 2: "Snap" the tail onto the ground with your back
foot. Smash your tail downward while jumping up. Once the tail
has "popped" off the ground, slide your front foot up
from the middle of your board toward the nose(front). You have to
get your timing perfect, to master this trick.
Step 3: Leveling off. Once in the air, sliding your foot levels
your board out. The "foot slide" is the process of
scraping you shoe upward and forward across the grip tape toward
the nose. You do this after the tail tap and jump.
Step 4: Land. Just remember always keep your body centered over
your board.
Nollie
The nollie takes a little practice.
It is very much like an ollie only instead of snapping the tail
down you snap the nose down. While standing still or approaching
an object put your back foot in front of the back truck bolts(almost
centered) and your front foot in front of the front truck bolts.
Lean a little bit froward and get a good snap. To do this, press
down with your front foot while lifting your back foot. Once you
have your board up use your back leg to level the board back out.
Kickflip
Before you learn this trick you
need to know how to ollie. The kickflip is an ollie variation:
you jump into the air with your board, but your board does a flip
before you land on it.
Step 1: Your back foot goes on the tail and your front foot goes
in the middle of the board, but hangs a bit over the edge.
Step 2: Do an ollie, but rather than only sliding your front foot
upward and forward, you must also slide your foot (shoe) to the
heal side enough to start your board in a spin. This action
requires you to actually kick your front foot off of your board.
The spinning board hovers for a second between your sprawling,
supple legs.
Step 3: "Catch" your board in mid-air once it has spun
completely around, and land
Heelflip
The heelflip is a lot like the
kickflip. You might want to learn the kickflip first but it is
only optional. The heelflip involves kicking your front foot
towards the toe side rather than the heelside edge as you would
do for a kickflip. Your front foot should be placed just behind
the front bolts. Do an ollie and kick off the toe side edge of
your board with your leading foot after your front foot has
completed the sliding part of the ollie. This should make your
board spin(don't get your feet caught up in the board). After
your board has done a complete turn, catch it and then land.
Boardslide
The railslide is not a very hard
trick but involves some practice. You have be able to do a 90
degree ollie to do this trick. First, approach your opstical in a
parallel position with your opstical. Once you reach your
opstical, ollie 90 degrees onto the opstical keeping your board
centered on the opstical. Once to the end turn 90 degrees off and
land. You might want to remember to keep your front foot on the
front truck bolts and your back foot on the back truck bolts.
Hardflip
Try this move still at first.Stand
in kickflip position with your feet in close. Pop the tail then
let the board go inbetween your legs. If you do this correct the
board should do a half spin backflip and a half kickflip. Then
land (This is a trick that you have to commit your self to. If
you dont you will have a board going up where the sun dont shine).
Frontside
Flip
Starts out in hardflip position but
in stead you frontside 180 as the board flips in between your
legs. This move should be easier then the hardflip if it's done
right. Also try doing what is knows as a mirage flip. It
looks like a hard flip but at the same time you do a body variel
Varial
Flip
Stand in kickflip position as you
begin to kickflip your back foot kicks back and the board will
begin to shove-it. Then your front foot will kick down on the
board and it will start to flip. I don't suggest any one
does this trick on a daily basis cause you will get beat up.
360
shuv-it
This move easier done fakie. Have
you foot in shuv-it position but your back foot will kick back
hardier then the 180 shuv-it. As you do this you should jump
forward and the board should spin under your feet. Catch the
board in the air and land.
