The weekend tournamet against St. Marys and Good Council was amazing. Thanks to goals by Heather Destefano, Liz Green, and Jessica Hua, the St. Mary's game was relatively laid back. However, the exciting and emotional game against Good Council was a little more tense. The amazing defensive play by Mary Asche saved the game on more than a few occacions, and the goal by Caroline Bohr gave us an important lead coming into the second half.
The magruder game was very eventful. The game was close, but we held them after the goal by Heather Destefano. Now to the good part. Fan's of the Magruder game arrived at the school at 6:00 in the hopes of some quality tailgating. However, we soon learned from one of the security guards that there is no cooking on school grounds, so we moved the grill just over the edge of the school zone not six feet from Muncaster Mill Road. Sittting on the side of the road cooking or meat we notice the faint sound of sirens in the distance. Well as a firetruck came over the hill, and stopped on the side of the road next to us we knew we had some explaining to do. Anyway three firemen came over and were astonished to find us cooking on the side of the road. These men were very nice and they let us finish what was already on the grill before they sprayed our charcol grill with there fire extinguisher. After a few pictures, and establishing that this was the funniest, most bizarre call they had ever received they departed and left us with lots of uncooked meat. There is only one option of what to do with this meat and it is to attempt to tailgate the nex away game. We'll see what happens.

We have out scored our opponents 30-2
The date was september 22, 2004, and the Wootton girl's soccer team were going to attempt to break the seemlessly endless tying streak against Quince Orchard. The first half of the game proved to be an entirely defensive game. However, after a quick goal in the second half Wootton held strong untill the end of the half when a lucky shot made by QO ended up in the goal. Then after some prayer led by none other than your truely with Heather Smart's, Sarah Duncan's, and Siri Hamilton's Youth group, Wootton returned with a game winning goal. Then thanks to amazing defensive play by Mary Ashe wootton was able to hold off QO for the rest of the game.
The WJ game was started off kinda slow because when we came to set up for the BBQ we were immediately met by one of the security guards who told us that we could not cook on school property. Well we were pretty hungry so we weren't going to give up. We went down the street into a dead end and asked the lady that lived there if she minded if we cooked there. She said no so we set up the grill. After watching the boys win in overtime while eating deer steaks and burgers, The girls game started. It was a tense game, and WJ played well, but thanks to Liz Green and Lauren Berman Wootton helds its winning streak by scoring the two goals of the game.
UNDEFEATED (HOLLA)
Apparently Churchill felt so strongly that they were going to win that they expressed this view on one of our players cars. However obviously they did not take in to consideration that we actually play soccer and they do not. As expected Wootton triumphed over Churchill with yet another shutout thanks to an amazing save by Kira Maker. The only goal of the game was scored by Larun Berman
Each game seems to be more interesting than the last. Today the Wootton was unexpectedly matched by the girls of Richard Montgomery. During the first half there was no score, and the second half was uneventful untill 2 of our players were on the ground and Chris yelled at the reff to call something. Then the reff stopped the game and came attempted to eject us from the game, but chris insisted that he must physically make us leave. Only when the other reff, who actually told us we could yell at him and his associate, came over and told us to leave did we exit the field. But a chain link fence could not stop us so we yelled as loud as possible, untill a goal at the very end of the game led Wootton to yet another shutout victory.
This was one of the biggest games of the season. Last year Whitman was #1, and this year we are. Last year when we played Whitman it was at their school, and it also went into overtime, and just like this year we came out on top. The game was intense and the fans stayed "fired up" the entire game. Not untill the second overtime was underway did someone finally score, and that someone was our very own Carly Epstein. Also, Katie Duncan and Allyn Bradbard had assists that helped to lead to our victory.
The game against Sherwood was supposed to be an easy win, but that fact was proven otherwise. To start off the game the Superfans were told that they were bothersome to the rest of the fans, and that they need to be not so loud. Our response to the issue at hand was to become much louder. So the entire first half we were getting yellled at by annoyed parents that never really followed through with their threats. They were obviously just jeleous of us and our players mad skills. The game remained scoreless until there was less than 6 minutes to play when Hilary O'sullivan crossed up 2 people then shot the ball through traffic and it curved andmade it in the boottom right corner perfecly. It was an amazing shot. Also, Katie Duncan had an amazing save when there was a corner and someone kicked it in and she was in just the right place to head it back out. It saved the game.
Damasus has been a rival for our girls soccer team, partly because Damascus has had a good team in the past, but mostly because we just don't like them. Our 2-0 shutout showed them exactly how we felt toward them. Carly Epstein and Liz Green scored the goals that secured another Patriot victory. With the conclusion of yet another shutout victory, Wootton was able to move up in the Washington Post's ranking, and secure the 3rd position. This is a Wootton first, but sure not to be last.
Saturdays game was fun. It was an easy win, even though Hilary was not even there for the game. We one 2 to 0. The second goal was by Katie Duncan and it was from way out in midfield. It was an amazing shot. This was a fairly laid back game, and we played average.
