Dear Mr. Bowden,
My name is Sumru Kumar, and I have just read your book Black Hawk Down, I have not yet seen the movie, but hopes it lives up to the book.
I will not take up much of your time, but I would like to ask you some questions that ran through my mind as reading the book. First, what made you write this book? Did you know anyone who was really in the midst of the war, and did their story help you or inspire you to write this book? Did you have any impute on the movie, how much? Does the movie portray the words from your book in an accurate fashion, as you pictured within your own mind? Was the book difficult to write, because the book was based on real accounts? How did you get the details so accurate and so vivid that a reader feels as if they are watching from a distance? I have to say that this book was one of the best most detailed books I have read in a long time and thank you for getting me into reading a book again. Sorry, for all the questions, but I had to ask.
Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to read my letter, I would also like to thank you for a possible response you may send back, it would helpful if you do, but no pressure if you are too busy. Thanks again.
Sincerely,
Ms. Sumru Kumar
