Giant Tree at Schreiber High School Crushes Car
By Sumru
October 4, 2002, a large tree fell, in the Schreiber teacher parking lot, on a new Silver Audi A6, owned by the Computer lab teacher, Ms. Carole Leone.
Leone was stunned and couldn’t believe this had happened again. She was so scared and nervous that she was unable to bring herself to even look at the car.
According to witness Ms. Bonnie Hennessy of the English department, at 1:18 P.M., when she had gone to her car to get test papers that were to be graded, she heard a loud noise. As she turned she saw the large tree in mid air falling toward Leone’s car. Hennessy also reported that no was there, and the parking spaces on either side were empty, so there were no damages to other cars.
Lauren S., from Ms. Valerie Gokturk’s interrupted journalism class said, "I just couldn’t believe this happened again."
No one was injured. To prevent a reoccurrence, the principal of Schreiber is going to call an arborist to inspect all large trees on campus, and if there is any trees rotting they will be immediately be cut down.
