| Welcome, I hope that this page will be helpful to my students and anyone else interested in the subject of history. HOW TO GET IN TOUCH WITH ME: My office is in the Moloney Building (232) of the University of Kentucky's Lexington Community College between Cooper and Alumni Drives. The college is right across from Commonwealth Football Stadium. My telephone number is 859-257-4872 ex. 4135 (you may leave voice mail), my fax number is 859-257-9578, and my e-mail address is [email protected]. My mailing address is Social Sciences and Graph Tech, Suite 226 Moloney Building, Lexington Community College, Lexington, KY 40506-0235. You can also leave me a written note in my mailbox which is among the wall of mailboxes in suite 226 in the Moloney Building. Professors' names are alphabetically arranged and divided between full time and part time. Mine is on the right side, look for the pink labels. I am a full time instructor. A LITTLE ABOUT ME: I am a native of Greensboro, N.C. and pretended for a brief period to be a college football player at Gardner-Webb College in North Carolina. I got my M.A. from the University of Tennessee and my Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I am married and have one son. My wife teaches Interior Design and Historic Preservation at UK. I taught junior high and high school for eight years in NC and enjoy sports, I particularly enjoy following the Chicago teams, especially the baseball Chicago Cubs. But also the Bears (football), Fire (soccer), Blackhawks (hockey), and the Bulls (basketball). I also follow soccer in the English Premier League and cheer for London's Tottenham Hotspur. I enjoy reading (particularly Science Fiction and Historical Fiction) and music (particularly Classical but I like all types of music). I love to travel and especially like my trips to Europe. I have been at LCC since 1990 and I teach or have taught many courses at the college. Among them are HIS 104, 105 (European Survey), HIS 108, 109 (US Survey), HIS 202, 203 (British Survey), and HIS 260, 261 (African American Survey). My current research interests are in the Quakers of the 17th and 18th centuries, Cassius M. Clay (19th Century Kentucky Eccentric), and the Kentucky Shakers. Although this site is particularly designed to help my students, it is hoped that anyone interested in history might find it useful. |
