Rice Hotel Ballroom
October 6, 2001
Corby & Jodi's Wedding Reception

Highlights:
  • The food was so totally awesome, especially the lobster bisque.
  • Corby paid us some totally righteous ca$h money. Thanks, dude!!!
  • "Amazed", as performed by myself and Craig was so much better than I thought it would be. (It was requested as Corby & Jodi's first dance.)
  • Considering the acoustics & the sound onstage, the band performed valiantly, especially me.
  • I looked damn good in a suit & tie.
  • The entire dinner table ragging on Big Sexy for some reason during the meal. So totally funny.

    Lowlights:
  • Me & Elliot were the only ones "available" to carry all the equipment up to the ballroom, which was the biggest pain in the ass eeeeeeeever.
  • After all that work, the band only had one hour to perform.
  • Crowd wasn't very rowdy, even for a wedding reception.

    Jeremy & Johanna's Wedding Party

    Highlights:
  • The food was so totally awesome.
  • There was some bachelorette party next door with an incredible amount of hot chicks.
  • Band played exceptionally well due to responsible alcohol consumption.
  • Debut of "Sweet Caroline"......crowd participation was pretty cool.
  • Major props to Scott Pope for being Super Roadie and helping us load most of our equipment.
  • Major props to Craig for putting on an electrifying performance....especially "L.A. Freeway".
  • Major props to K.C. for showing up to sing "Mad About You", "Material Girl", and "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" even after having to get up @ seven in the morning for a "Drama Tournament" & having sang a long-ass gig with Mid-Stream right before.

    Lowlights:
  • Could not enjoy the awesome food due to the effects of drinking too much the night before.
  • Could not consume any alcohol due to the effects of drinking too much the night before.
  • There were two men dancing with each other during one of our songs. (One of them might have been Johanna's dad). I don't really dig seeing two dudes dancing with each other.

    West Alabama Ice House
    August 3, 2001

    Highlights:
  • We made some totally righteous bucks on tips.
  • Band was sober. I never realized how much difference that makes. I think I actually played pretty decently.
  • Big Sexy singing background on "Material Girl".
  • "Rain" was so totally awesome. "Island in the Sun" is also way better with somebody else doing background vocals.
  • Overall band performance was so much better than expectations.

    Lowlights:
  • It was hella-hot. I was sweating like a hog.
  • Broke string on main guitar and was stuck with backup guitar for entire second set.
  • Big Sexy's birthday wish: "I wish Simon would die". K.C. agreed. Where's the love, y'all?
  • Could not get the choreography right on "Working For The Weekend".

I made the following predictions about three weeks ago. Boy, how wrong was I!!! I will admit that I was kind of a prick writing predictions like these. I guess that's why everybody else in the band hates my guts.

    Predictions:
  • We're gonna suck. (We didn't!!!)
  • Public will be exposed to "Mojo" for the eighth time. It certainly won't be the last. ("Mojo" was not performed.)
  • Public will be exposed to "Getting Drunk in the Sun" for the second time. It certainly won't be the last. (This song was also not performed.)
  • Although we're only gonna have to play for two and a half hours, we're gonna end up repeating alot of songs.....most likely "Folsom Prison" and "Luckenbach". (Again, I was wrong. We played these songs once each.)
  • We're all gonna be wasted. (Damn, I suck at predictions for gigs. It was actually way too hot to get a buzz off of beer as it was 100,000 degrees on "stage".)
  • We're gonna argue over what song to soundcheck with. (No problems here. "Dukes of Hazzard" it was & shall remain.)
  • Somebody's gonna request Randy Travis & we're gonna end up doing a horrendous rendition of "Diggin' Up Bones". (I was actually the one who wanted to try it at practice before the gig. It ended up not being played at the gig.)
  • "Promised Land" is again gonna be one big clusterfuck. (It couldn't be a clusterfuck since we didn't play it.)

    Highlights:
  • FIRST PAYING GIG EVER!!!!
  • "Mad About You" lived up to expectations.
  • Unplanned performances of "Love Bites" & "18 And Life" & "Mickey" reeked of awesomeness.
  • Big crowd made West Alabama Ice House extremely happy.
  • After gig, watched "Urban Cowboy" at the Carter residence while eating all their food.

    Lowlights:
  • Most band members got too drunk too fast.
  • Drunk band members extremely liberal with their individual parts. <-----(very nice way of saying we played like shit.)
  • Repetitions of too many songs.
  • Technical difficulties with microphones.
  • Public exposed to "Mojo" for the seventh time. It certainly won't be the last.
  • Public exposed to "Getting Drunk in the Sun" for the first time. It certainly won't be the last.
  • "Admiral" Loral Reed AWOL.
  • Counterfeit Cash soldier John Rocker gets traded to Cleveland.

    Highlights:
  • Wireless systems made what would've been a pretty dull show into a rather fun and electrifying gig.
  • "Hashpipe" - debut of Elliot on lead vocals.
  • Bruce purposely ripping the skin of his bass drum during "Steamroller Blues".
  • Big Sexy breaking his hip while gatoring during "Whiskey River".
  • Jason actually performs Homer's do-re-mi beer song.
  • Big crowd made the owner of Griff's extremely happy.
  • Watched "Baseketball" till five in the morning after unloading all the heavy equipment.

    Lowlights:
  • Sloppy band performance. Could be attributed to wireless systems. And alcohol.
  • Couldn't play "18 And Life" because a certain somebody had other obligations.
  • Broke guitar string during "Suspicious Minds" yet valiantly finished the song with only five strings. That's the Triple H influence....finish the match no matter what happens.
  • Public exposed to "Mojo" for the sixth time. It certainly won't be the last.

    Highlights:
  • Good turnout. Not as insanely crowded as Jason's b-day bash.
  • Fat Elvis was actually pretty funny.
  • "18 And Life" played in public for the first time. Still trying to contain my happiness.

    Lowlights:
  • The law school "awards" thing.
  • Public exposed to "Mojo" for the fifth time. It certainly won't be the last.
  • That cocksucker who tried to run off with the afro.
  • Felt like crap all day from drinking binge the night before.

    Best gig ever?
Click here for pictures from this gig.

    Highlights:
  • Starting during daylight & ending in the evening looks pretty cool on tape.
  • Maintained even buzz throughout, instead of getting obliterated and hindering my playing abilities.
  • I actually sang James Gang's "Walk Away". Maybe this is a lowlight instead of a highlight.
  • Lesbians giving $5 to K.C. for "services".
  • This was the beginning of Wrestlemania weekend. The next night was WWF Fanfest & Sunday night was Wrestlemania. Possibly the greatest weekend of my life.

    Lowlights:
  • Public exposed to "Mojo" for the fourth time. It certainly won't be the last.

    Counterfeit Cash's final Lawlapalooza

    Highlights:
  • Surprisingly good crowd turnout, considering it was late Thursday evening.
  • "Spiderwebs" & "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" performed for the first time.
  • "Flowers on the Wall" turned out awesome despite being rehearsed only a couple of times.
  • Great setlist overall.
  • "Sex Machine" actually turned out pretty good. I had made up my mind that it was gonna suck ass. It's good to be wrong sometimes.

    Lowlights:
  • Shitty sound.
  • Public exposed to "Mojo" for the third time. It certainly won't be the last.
  • Certain somebody sasses me right before the gig. There's two people in the world you really shouldn't sass: Stone Cold Steve Austin & Simon Jung.

The beginning of the end OR the end of the beginning?

    Highlights:
  • K.C.'s debut with Counterfeit Cash...."Back In Baby's Arms" & "I Fall To Pieces."
  • First set possibly band's best performance to date.

    Lowlights:
  • Turned 26 the night before. I'm much too young too feel this damn old.
  • Public exposed to "Mojo" for the second time. It certainly won't be the last.
  • Infamous "Behind The Music" incident. Entire segment caught on tape!

    Jason's birthday party
Click here for pictures from this gig.

    Highlights:
  • Insanely large crowd turnout.
  • Corby sings "Hotel California".

    Lowlights:
  • Bartenders were less than cordial.
  • Bar was ill-equipped to handle the Counterfeit Cash crowd's alcohol consumption abilities.
  • Decker kept invading the stage like the N.W.O. invaded WCW a few years ago.
  • Public exposed to "Mojo" for the very first time. It certainly won't be the last.
  • Second set dragged on...and on...and on (Imagine a Big Show/Billy Gunn iron man match).
  • Rock set cut way too short.
  • Sound wasn't all that great.
