Join the SJSU Precision Flight Team

To become a team member of the San Jose State Precision Flight Team, you must first statisfy the following requirements:

There is no requirement for a team member to have any FAA certificates or ratings in order to participate on the team. However, you must hold at least a Private Pilot ASEL certificate in order to compete in a flying event. We welcome people of all experience levels because the most important aspect of a prespective team member is a desire to compete and have fun!

The team holds at least two practices each week, a "ground" and a "flight" practice. A "ground" practice is normally held every Thursday at 1900-2100. These "ground" practices are used to practice all the non-flying events, and also to gather the team together to discuss future meetings and the upcoming competitions. Our "flight" practices are usually held every Saturday at 0900 and normally last until 1400. During the "flight" practices, the team practices all the flying events. While both the "ground" and "flight" practices are held on a fairly consistent schedule, the team (especially when competition nears) will sometimes practice on more than two days a week.

If you are interested in joining the team or would like more information regarding the team, please contact the Aviation Department at SJSU or e-mail the team at [email protected] .
