Flight Sergeant Barton in Murder on the Rising Star

A Cylon basestar.
This is an exceptionally interesting photograph of the basestar model under
construction at Apogee in 1977 or early 1978. Like the battlestar, the model is built
around a steel tube framework that will incorporate the mounts for the motion control rig.
The rest of the model is constructed of transparent acrylic with detailing laid on top.
There is so much repeated detail on this model that I wonder if master panels were made
and then reproduced in foam or resin; does anyone know? Notice the finished panels
installed in the hangar bay area. A useful detail can be seen just to the left of the
hangar bay opening; a 1/35 scale figure from one of the dozens of model kits used to
provide detail parts for this and other BG miniatures. As 1/35 figures are
approximately 2 inches high, this gives a nice sense of scale to the photograph. Another
interesting note is that this is the only BG model that appeared in the series as
a model; Colonel Tigh used it as an example during his briefing in The Hand of God.
