He spent 23 years as executive vice president and chief operating officer at QED Communications in Pittsburgh, where he helped create a production center for the PBS. He was responsible for bringing the national Geographic specials to PBS. During his career in televesion and film, he won four Emmy awards, two Peobody awards, and an Academy award.
