Amelia Earhart. What an awesome female role model. She dared to go where other women only dreamed about. Even though she remains missing, she lives on as the matriarch of aviation. |

This is a total eclipse of the sun as viewed from space. Astronomy can be confusing and boring in lectures and books, but the fundamentals of it are fascinating and beautiful. |

One of Degas' famous ballet paintings. I'm a big fan of the impressionists, especially Monet. And of course, Degas' ballerinas are great, too! |

The Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. I haven't been there yet, but someday I'm going to Europe and buying a Eurail Pass so that I can travel all over and see all the famous sights. |

1920 was a great year for American women; this was the year that the 19th amendment to the Constitution was passed, giving us the right to vote. A victory for feminists everywhere! I voted for the first time in June of 1999. Unfortunately, not everyone took advantage of it; one of my grandmothers has never registered to vote. |

The hands of a slave woman. I love photography; you can tell so much about this anonymous woman just from looking at her hands. It's amazing and beautiful and incredibly artistic. |

Okay, so Rosie here is now being used in a Tampax ad, which kind of ruins the effect, but it's cool that she's still around. Another victory in the feminist movement, Rosie and others like her in the Forties proved that a woman's place is not only in the home. |
