Every Day is Mother's Day
The very first thing she gave me was the Kubo nose
then she taught me how to:
read
write,
rid myself of ticks
chew gum
blow bubbles
play my records
sharpen my crayons
make my bed,
make cinnamon toast
understand the infield fly rule and a balk
appreciate Buzz Sawyer
grow beans
play solitaire
practice phone etiquette
tell time with the big and little hands
be on time
smile
wrap presents and make a bow
Geometry
bundle my socks
practice my scales for a couple of tunes banged out on the piano
balance my checkbook
count to ten in Japanese
count to thirty four in English
make Kool Aid
enjoy the perfect soft boiled eggs
butterscotch brownies, rice krispie bars,
shrimp
Pants sewed better than the finest tailor
above and beyond, everything else important I now knows
