Willis Eldridge "Woody" Wood

Roy, Utah W.E. Wood "Woody" age 77, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 1994 at the Dixie Medical Center, St.George from causes incident to age.
He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa and friend. He was an inspiration to all he knew, and was quick to lend a helping hand.
Born June 26, 1916, in West Station,Mississippi, a son of James T. and Hattie Johnson Wood, and reared in Arkansas. Came to Willard, Utah in 1938. Married to Iris Woodyatt on May 12, 1939; she died August 28, 1966. He married VaNeita Jorgensen on February 19, 1968. He spent most of his life in Roy, Utah. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He joined the Utah Highway Patrol on January 17, 1941, where he spent 37 years until he retired as a lieutenant in in 1978.
Member of the Elks Lodge. He loved bowling and was an avid golfer. He spent his winter months in Washington, Utah, at the Redlands RV Park so he could continue his love for golf. He is survived by: His wife: three sons and three daughters, Robert E. Wood, West Jordan; Mrs. Dave(Anne)Nelson, Clearfield, Mrs. Jim(Jeanne)Combe,Reedley,Calif; James K. Wood(wife, Trudy),South Ogden; Mrs. Lynn(Nancy) Horspool,Willard; John E. Wood(wife Violy), South Ogden; stepson and stepdaughter, Larry Jorgensen,Ogden; Mrs. Glade(Linda)Sutherland,roy; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister, Estes Wood,Arthur Wood, and Pauline Downey; also, one grandson, Jeremy Jon Wood.
Funeral services wil be held Tuesday, January 25, at 11 a.m. at the Roy 6thWard Chapel, 3845 So, 2000 West, with Bishop Kyle Denaughel of the Roy 6th Ward officiating. Friends may call at the Myers Mortuary in Roy, 5866 So, 1900 West, Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment in the Willard Cemetery.
