Day 1 of our new schedule and I lived.  In fact I got a bit accomplished which is saying a lot for me on a normal day let alone on a day I have a cold.

I got up an hour late but that was my own fault.  I attempted to sabotage the whole thing by staying up an extra hour answering polls on
Mister Poll.  Hey, quiet in the peanut gallery.  I have never at any point in my life said that I was not a complete doofus.

After that things went well.  We all ate breakfast and I gave the babies baths while Stanley practiced piano.  Stanley got a shower and we did our morning bible lesson and our morning etiquette lesson.

Stanley is doing well with his memorization this week.  We switched from the children's songs to the Hymnal and he had the first verse of
The Church's One Foundation down pretty good by this morning.  Next week I told him it would be even easier since he already has the tune down he'll only have to work on remembering the words.

We did crafts and read stories.  When the babies were napping we read from our book on the American Revolution and Stanley showed me the videos from School House Rocks that were pertinent to our lesson.  I tell you, the more I study the Revolution as a Christian adult the more I think I would have been a Torrie.  But that's a subject for my
other blog.

In the afternoon the boys all went swimming.  Well, Kurtis actually just played in the spray that comes off the slide but he still had fun.  He'll get in one day.

For dinner we had pizza from
Trader Joe's.  It was pretty darn good.  (SFTL)  I think we'll have it again next week.  Maybe I'll get crazy and buy the BBQ Chicken Pizza.

For our bedtime stories I read Kurtis and I Spy boardbook.  He's pretty good at remembering things and can find the things in the back of the book rather easily.  He must get it from his father because as soon as we turn the page to look for the pictures I forget which one we are looking for. He will also regularly stop me in the middle of a story to go find me another book that has the same or a similar picture in it.

Stanley's bedtime story right now is
The Wind in the Willows.  We are both enjoying that extremely.  I'm not sure what we'll read next.  I think it's time for a girl book. lol.  Maybe he'll want to read Little House on the Prairie.  We finished Little House in the Big Woods a bit ago but he found it quite fascinating.  These books are all a challenge to read to him because for so much of what is happening in them he has no frame of reference.

Stanley's reading continues to improve.  He always reads the nightly verse for our catechism lesson.  Some of the words are a bit tricky.  I'll have to look up the reason for the pronunciation of "said."  I have a few books now that explain why we pronounce words in ways that make no logical sense.

Sorry, I have no pictures today.  I'll have to put picture taking on my schedule. ;-)
