| Since I already wrote about our day to our homeschool group I will just post it so I don't have to think up anything else and I can get to bed a bit earlier. Sorry, no pictures today. Please come again tomorrow. Well, I was just using the calendar to estimate when I will need to order our next Latin book. Stanley is not struggling with this at all so I think the first book will go rather quickly. I decided I should put all the holidays into my schedule and before I knew it I was in November. It looks like, if we can maintain our current schedule and Stanley continues to excel in his studies (yes, I actually used the words excel and studies in the same sentence to describe Stanley), I think we will have no problem finishing by the middle of November. We will even have time to take two days a month offone to visit my grandmother in Redondo Beach and the other to go to the Zoo or Wild Animal Park. I might even let Stanley take a day this summer to go to the water park out in San Bernardino with Stan. Stanley has decided that he wants to be in third grade next year at church. That will help things with Calvin Cadets if they have it at our church. I dont know if hell actually be in third grade at home though. He did go through 40 spelling words already this week. Hes also whipping through Math now. I may take some time off next week from the book to go back and review some subtraction of larger numbers though. His penmanship looks like a boy wrote it. Lol. I suppose thats the only area where we could say he is actually struggling. When we are done with our current book we will be switching to cursive and I am hoping hell do better. He like to write his letters artistically so Im suspecting this will appeal to him more. Grammar is turning out to be easier than I expected. I finally figured out the Cats sat thing from last week. Now it definitely makes sense. I sure wish I had started Grammar at his agemaybe Id understand it better now. (Or is that period? Lol) We are winding up his memorization of the 10 commandments. After next Sunday Church School will be done for the school year and I am thinking of having him work on memorizing Matthew 5 until it starts back in September. All in all Id say that eight is the magic age for Stanley. Ive been amazed at how easily things that he absolutely struggled with last year are just coming to him now as if they are simple. |
