| Game Note Continued pg. 5 Magic Continued Contrip items are very common and grudgingly tolerated by the upper castes and the Water Caste. Higher level items are kept carefully hidden since they are likely to get stolen or confiscated, but the powerful or wealthy flaunt them with abandon. Magic items above cantrips that are common are atmospheric rooms for food storage, reinforced structures, wards, sunshades and protective scarves, enhansedstones for hunting cockroaches and rats, etc. Other Notes People of Solstistalis average 5' 3" (anyone over 5' 8" is considered a giant), have raven black hair, dark eyes and olive skin. Rare hazel or dark blue eyes, or mahogany hair are commonly remarked upon and can make someone stand out in a crowd. You will be given one "special." It can be used to get a small metal weapon or a low level magic item. It can also be used to get an upper Caste contact or favor, but requires a logical reason for being granted. Other interesting and character specific specials are encouraged. This is meant to be that little something extra that makes a herodifferent from most people. I prefer not to use a special to patch a hole or weakness in a character. Specials are meant to be fun, to make a PC heroic, and to be exploited as story hooks. Three good gamer reference sources are Al-Qudim and GURPS "Arabian Nights" and "Egypt." I am not running either of these cultures per se but they have all sorts of color and juicy bits.
