"About Us" The St. Joseph Outboard Motor & Yacht Club, commonly known and called the St. Joe Boat Club, is located in St. Joseph, Missouri on the Missouri River at mile marker 444. The Club has a modern "club house" equipped with heat, air conditioning, restrooms and kitchen facilities along with a large area for meetings and/or dinners. Below is a concrete patio with "inboard" and "outboard" restrooms/showers and a storage room. The new building was erected after the "Great Flood of 93" all but destroyed the old club house. Other than the large Marina at Sioux City, Ia and two marina in Omaha, Ne, our club has the most docks available from Sioux City to St. Louis. We maintain our own ramp and parking areas and the club grounds are well kept by the members. The grounds provide for picnic tables, swings, a campfire area and horseshoe pits. The Club is a family oriented and supported by the membership which is limited to 110 families. At the present time it has a three generation and several two generation families. The members have a monthly meeting conducted by the Commodore along with a "potluck supper" and puts out a monthly "Log" which keeps members abreast of what has happened within the past month and the activities planned for the upcoming month or months, which are spearheaded by the Cruise Directors. Some of the activities include crusies up or down the river, sandbar volleyball games, moonlight cruises, horseshoe tournaments, tube floats, fishing tournaments, dances, an annual pancake breakfast, and an annual "pig roast" for the 4th of July. |
