Dan is not the only one with fans. Matthew has garnered a few himself. One Matthew/Dan fan friend from San Diego, Kim, emailed me to let me know Abrams would be on location nearby and that I should take Matthew. Since my best friend lives just a few blocks from the courthouse, we decided to visit her for the day and then stop by so Matthew could see his favorite news guy. Sandy, Dan's co-worker/assistant came over to greet us. Matthew was very happy to see her and she responded by telling Matthew she had a surprise for him. I was thinking a new autographed picture. A video of Dan for the tike. MSNBC crayons. Something like that. Nope. Dan wanted Matthew to appear on "The Abrams Report" for an interview.
Abrams asked us to return in time for the end of the show, his usual "Closing Argument" block. I was not sure what it was that Dan was going to ask Matthew, but it bolstered my opinion that the man is fearless to invite a just-over three year old onto his live show. I sometimes feign at the idea of going to the grocery store. Live tv? Yikes.
Matthew enjoyed his time with his pals Dan and Sandy. When I asked him later what his favorite part was, he simply replied, "Sitting next to Dan."
Mommy & Matthew after the show.
Dan came over and of course, Matthew was very, very happy to see him. He shook Dan's hand and gave Dan what Matthew calls his "SupermanSuperDan" cape. It's just a red cape that Matthew likes to wear and run up and down the hall screaming "SuperDan"! So he was insistent that Dan have a matching cape so he, too, could play "SuperDan". Dan, of course, was gracious. He joked of wearing it on the show. Matthew would have loved it. I venture to guess that the "AR" crew was relieved that this event did not occur.
