The Personal Performance Portfolio is a project that can be split up and attacked in mini sections. Below is an outline of each section, with hints and links. Your first hint is to make sure you have all the following at hand: |
Your text book - Advanced PE for OCR |
The LATEST PPP guidelines from OCR |
A PPP mark scheme |
Information on your activity |
Section A: |
(i) Identification and justification of components of physical fitness |
ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY |
It is important in this area that you not only identify the four components of physical fitness (Strength, Stamina, Suppleness and Speed) but also justify, or state, why they are important to your activity. When is strength, speed, etc. important in your activity? |
Strength: Explosive strength, general strength Give a definition and apply - state why this component is important in your activity. For example, |
Stamina: Muscular endurance and cardiovascular fitness |
Suppleness: Flexibility |
Speed: Acceleration, pure speed |
(ii) Give a detailed description of the personal warm up and cool down for the chosen activity. This should include an explanation of its effects on the (i) speed and force of muscular contraction; (2) vascular system. |
Make sure you keep to the PPP guidelines! DON NOT write information that is not asked for as you will not get any extra marks, no matter how good the content and presentation of your work. |
BELOW ARE SOME USEFUL HINTS TO COMPLETE YOUR AS PPP |
Keep a note of all the books, videos, websites and CD Roms you use as you will need to put all of these in your references/bibliography section at the back of your PPP. |
Don't waste time formatting your work in the early stages. Concentrate on research and writing!. Formatting comes later. |
Above all, do your PPP in sections. Do not try and attempt to do the whole portfolio in one go! |
Section off this area and write about each component of fitness in turn. Be clear with your sub-headings. Use correct terminology to show your understanding and depth of knowledge. |
