During the winter vacation, I saw the movie which title is "Love Actually" with my cousin. I think the movie is enjoyment and fun. In the movie, to speak actor's or actress's line is very interesting.
Love actually is the movie of genial disposition. It is about 'Love', so in the movie all kinds of love exist. This movie swears that "Actually, love is all around." Love is all around us all the time. However we easily forget about it. This movie tells ten separate stories of love in London, leading up to a big climax on Christmas Eve. There are three stories that touched my mind more than others.
First, Over-the-hill rocker Billy Mack is recording a Christmas version of the Troggs' 1968 hit 'Love is All Around.' His version replaces the word 'love' with the word 'christmas', and it makes him nauseous, an emotion he doesn't keep secret from anyone, which only gives headaches to his longtime manager, Joe. He wants to have a bigger hit with it than the latest hot boy band on the circuit, so he promises to perform the song naked on Christmas Eve if the public will make it a hit.
Next, the new Prime Minister has takes office and finds himself attracted to his personal staff secretary, Natalie, a woman that others think is fat for some reason. He thinks his feelings for her will interfere with his job, and when he catches her in the arms of the visiting married President of the U.S., he has her re-assigned. He just cannot get her out of his mind though.
Last love story is about boy, dad and girl's love story. Daniel has recently lost his wife, and is now the sole parent of his stepson Sam. He thinks the boy is sad that his mom is gone, but he is actually upset that he has failed to gain the attention of Joanna Anderson, an American who is the most popular girl in school. Daniel encourages Sam to take up the drums for the upcoming school Christmas pageant, much to his regret. The movie ties each story together at the end with a big airport scene and the common theme of love.
I heard the British English when I watched the movie. I realize that British English is different from American English. I think this is my first time to listen British English attentively. But it is easy that I heard British English. It is simple than American English. However, some of vocabularies are unfamiliar. For example, elevator is American word, and lift is British word. Also 'underground' which is used in England, is changed 'subway' which is used in America. The vocabularies are too awkward to listen. And [r] sound is disappeared, for instance the word 'sir' pronounces [ser] in America but it is pronounces [sea] in England. When Natalie answers the Prime Minister, she said 'Yes, sir' every time. I heard many words like that. That sounds very nice, I think.
I thought British English is just a little different from America English. But now I realized that they are different like difference between South and North Korean language. But that is not difficult and I like to hear British English.
