autobiography

I grew up in the city of Madras, India, where I lived for the first 21 years of my life. My education began in the Indian public school system, the Kendriya Vidyalaya. It was a lot of fun, and I'm still in touch with most of my classmates and friends from that period of my life.

After finishing high school, I got to thinking that I was most suited to study engineering. So I enrolled myself in the Electrical Engineering Department at what was probably one of the most elitist institutions in India: the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. I had a good time there tooling (IITM lingo for "not working"). Hardly a dull  moment, what with strange characters like pimo and nari in my hostel.

At the age of 21,  I decided to leave my homecity Madras to see what life was like outside its borders. So I came to the USA. I got my Masters degree from Auburn University, the land of War eagle. I got a bit homesick during the first few months, but finally found my way around and made some good friends. I'm indebted to the philosophy department there for helping me understand the elements of Western philosophy.

After graduating from Auburn, I wanted to see the real world. So I took up a job, working with Analog Devices, Santa Clara, California, as a Process Control Engineer. I was in a good company, with Dan, Joe, Myint, Raj and others.

I liked my work at Analog, but wanted to return to school for my PhD. I joined the University of Texas and graduated with a PhD in 2004.

I got married to Usha Parmeswari on the 15th of December, 2002. We moved to Silicon Valley, CA, after my graduation. I presently work at AMD in the R&D Division.
