San Juan Aikikai is a non-profit organization dedicated to the teachings of the art of Aikido in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. Aikido or the "Art of Peace"; like it is also known, is a Japanese martial art founded by O'Sensei (Great Teacher) Morihei Ueshiba in the middle of the 20th century. In his conception of this art, he developed not only a way for an effective self-defense, but also a way of life.

For him Aikido was the path towards peace with ourselves and with nature. He considerd Aikido to be a martial art that had no competitions, but the competition that we encounter with ourselves to be better human beings everyday. This is the essence of our purpose as an Aikido center.

Our mission is to Practice and teach Aikido under the guidelines and regulations of the United States Aikido Federation and The Latin American Aikido Federation of which San Juan Aikikai is a member.
