Rebecca Sung Chan's Biographical Sketch

How do you summarize the last 40-45 years in a short paragraph?  I guess I have to try because Gail said so!

After Berkeley High I went to Cal.  I took a semester off and lived with my sister in Honolulu.  After graduation, I moved to Washington , D.C. awaiting security clearance for a job with the CIA.  Before I was cleared, I chose to get married instead and moved to south Jersey.  My husband changed jobs so we moved to Yonkers, NY.  When his company moved to NJ we followed.  After a few years the company sent him/us to Vienna, Austria to work on the development of the VCR.  We returned to north Jersey where we "settled" for the past 22 years. My husband passed away in June of 1999 after a 20 month battle with lymphoma.  I felt God's leading and moved back to the Bay Area in May of 2001.  It was a difficult move.  Although I was happy to move closer to my family, it was hard to leave my friends behind.  Having finally settled and put down roots, I had to uproot once again... this time by myself.

I took count... I lived in 5 countries, on 4 continents... moved eighteen times.  Is it any wonder that I do NOT want to EVER move again????

We have 4 adult children.  3 are in the SF Bay Area and 1 is presently working in Hong Kong, hopefully only for a very short term.

I was a full time Mom while the children were growing up.  After they left home, I worked for 9 years but chose to retire early.  Having dedicated myself to home and family most of my married life, I want to pursue my interests while I am still young and healthy.  I have been active in Community Bible Study for the past 11 years and plan to continue here in California.
