Gail Jyrinki Gillis
I am presently living in El Sobrante, with my youngest daughter, Jamie, 27 yrs. old, four dogs, five cats, two ducks, one outside feral cat and one outside resident king snake. My house backs up to the East Bay Regional Park District on one side and to the rear, so I am visited by lots of raccoons, skunks, lizards, and deer. If you know what an animal person I am, you'll know I'm in 7th heaven!
I was married for 38 years to Duncan Gillis, whom I grew up with. My husband passed away on December 27, 2000, after four bouts of cancer and 18 years to the day that he lost his left leg to it. My husband was a retired Albany police officer.
I have three daughters, two sons-in-law, and four grandchildren. They are: Lisa Marks (38 yrs.), her husband Stacy, son Daniel (15 yrs.) and daughter Chrissy (13 yrs.); Melinda De La Torre (36 yrs.), husband Roland, twin daughters Jillian and Jacey (3-1/2 yrs.), and stepson Jack (12 yrs.); and Jamie Gillis (27 yrs.). Jamie is the "designer" of our Sizzling Sixes web site. (I think she did a great job so far and is still adding to it!)
I was a stay-at-home mom until my husband became disabled. I then worked for the Albany Police Dept.; Hanna, Brophy Law Firm; Richmond Police Dept.; and now Richmond Public Services Dept., Building Services Division. I have worked for the city for 12 yrs. and am an Administrative Aide.
Some of the very best memories I have are of Burbank and the Sizzling Sixes! |
