Betrayal

Too many times we've both been hurt, 
And yet we feel no pain. 
The numbness in our stilling hearts, 
Has taken us in vain. 
Forever are you watchful. 
For doubt that isn't there. 
You seem to stare right through my eyes, 
And into my dark lair. 
I need you now. 
Why aren't you here? 
What once was yours is now my fear. 
A stormy wind blows through my veins. 
I am now alone. 
How could you leave me here to die, 
In this place that's not my own?
