Book Summary

The Giver

This was an excellent book and it was interesting. I thought that at the beginning of the book it was boring. I guess all books are like that. This book turned out to be an exciting book. When I finished a chapter I immediately wanted to read another chapter.

This story started out about who the characters were and what the community was about. Then Jonas got picked to be the new Receiver of Memories. Jonas started to learn more and more about the pleasent memories, and painful memories. Then Jonas finds out that he would like to make his own choices. In Jonas's world there is no colour and no one has feelings. Then Jonas and The Giver make a plan for Jonas and Gabriel to run away. Jonas runs away to a new place where there is love, choices and colour.

Some of the characters from the story are Asher, Jonas, Fiona, and the Giver. Asher was a young boy who was Jonas's best friend. He is very funny, he likes to play games. Another one of the characters is Fiona she has red hair and she is the girl that Jonas likes and she is caring. Jonas is the main character of the story he is a young boy with blonde who is now the Receiver of Memories. He is very caring and loving. The Giver is an old man and he was the last Receiver of Memories. Asher becomes a recreation director. Jonas is the Receiver of Memories. Fiona becomes a care taker of the old.

I would have to say that the biggest problem Jonas ran into was the journey to a new place. On the journey Jonas and Gabriel starve, they have to hunt for food. They have to hide so they don't get caught. They get cold and numb. That was the biggest problem Jonas ran into.

I think that the climax of the story was the journey to a new place. The Giver and Jonas made plans to scape and everything. Then Jonas and Gabriel make the journey through hard times.

This book was very, very good. It is now one of my favourite books. I hope everything goes well for Jonas and Gabriel. I would recommend this book to kids and teenagers.
