Texas Cavalry Brigade
My site will discuss my findings of the Whitfield - Ross Texas Cavalry Brigade and address reader needs as to family.
McCook's Raid and Kirpactrick's Raid

Hope I got the names spelled correctly. As I have read in the last few days, I see some confusion concerning the Ross Brigade in these actions. From what I know off the top of my head, Ross and the center of the brigade were stretched to thin in the Kirpactrick raid and Ross was over run, captured, released and recalled the brigade all in a short period of time. If Ross' support had been there Kirpactrick would have been wittled down more than he was.

In the McCook raid McCook over ran nothing and lost most of his cavalry, trains and artillery, flags etc. During the next couple of days I will put what I have on the brigade web site for comment. If my comments are wrong here, I will correct it. At times I just have to much garbage in my head. When that happens, you know garbage in!

My G Grandfather was part of the Brigade Hdqtrs and got himself captured by Kirpatrick. I always thought a counterattack freed up Ross and the group?
