Texas Cavalry Brigade
My site will discuss my findings of the Whitfield - Ross Texas Cavalry Brigade and address reader needs as to family.
Entry for March 18, 2007

I have been working on some of the formats, and hope they work better.

In March of 1862 the brigade was not formed, but the regiments were moving toward Corinth. By March 1863 the Brigade was in Tennessee and working with Forest Brigade. In March of 1864, the Brigade was completing operations in Mississippi and getting ready to head toward Georgia. In March 1865, the Brigade was back in Mississippi, trying to regroup. Ross went to Texas to recruit money and men. Soon the war was over and the boys went home.

Were some months heavier with combat than others. Yes, but the winter months of December and January were the quietest, with the exception of December 20, 1862 when the Brigade struck Holly Springs Depot and prolonged Grant's War. Februarys were quiet. March April May and June were preludes to July August and September. October was usually a hot month.
