It
is pretty dusty. I do all my sandblasting in my homemade blasting cabinet,
alot of dust flies around. I keep the car covered but the dust is so fine
it gets everywhere!!!
Notice
how big that front sway bar is. It is twice as big as the stock sway bar.
With the new sway bar and the 8" harmonic balencer there is only 1/4" space
between the two. Hope that doesnt turn out to be a problem, the bar should
flex (if any at all) down towards the road.
The
PPG paint went on the firewall / underbody silky smooth, I suggest two
light coats plus the two light coats of Dupont Veri-Prime. You want to
be sure to be able to read any of the panal stampings that are all over
the body of the car, I have no idea what they mean. Possibly Fisher Body
panel part numbers.
Details,
Details, Details. It looks a little dusty but under that dust all those
parts have been restored. New wheel bearings, seals, brakes, wheel cylinders,
brake hardware and even a new gasket between the spindle and the brake
backing plate!!!
The
new shifter works and looks great sitting were it originally sat 30 years
ago. I have a HURST T-handle on it so I don't get my new white ball dirty.
The E-Brake and the gas pedel have been refinished also. I am waiting for
the firewall pad to finish the other pedels installation. I will put in
a new Master Cylinder also.
The
undeside is refinished as well (just a little dirty). I can't decide if
I want to bend my own brake lines or get a kit from Classic Tube, all prebent
stainless lines of course. The gas tank still needs to be refinished along
with the driveshaft. Next month (February) I will put the Flowmaster System
in. The motor has to breath and exhail!!!
The
flex-pipe is only to keep those hot gases off the trans x-member when I
started the motor last spring while it was on the subframe. Notice how
the shifter should look, the one I pulled out went straight up on the side
of the trans tunnel. The trans was rebuilt by some friends at AAMCO, no
more leaks!!!
I
tried to sand the rear quarters, what a mess!!! That silver paint is so
thick that what I thought were bubbles in the paint was actually paint,
thicker than a match head!!! This spring I will use some stripper on it
that way I will not ruin the sheet metal or the contours of the panels.
What do ya think? P255/60/VR15 Gatorbacks on some Dragstars to fill the
rear fenderwells or what? The car will receive the original color HH Mountain
Green paint with a white bumble bee stripe around the front, with the interior
replaced with the original 797z, parchement custom interior!!! Just plain
AWSOME, Man!!!!!!!
