Games We Like To Play
Just a quick note, I'm not sure exactly where these have all been gathered or brainstormed from so If you see a game that is exclusively yours and want bragging rights please email me about it at [email protected] I would love to give credit where credit is due!
GROCERY BAG FUN
Materials: A plastic grocery sack per child
1 bean bag per pair of children
Before giving the girls the bags Please talk about safe play and NOT putting the bags over their heads.
One girl tosses the bean bag and the other tries to catch it in her bag.
Each girl gets a turn to catch and toss.
OPERATOR
Materials: None
Everyone sits in a circle and one person starts with a "secret" and whispers it to the person sitting next to them and the "secret" gets passed around Until it ends back with the person who started it.
Its fun to see how wrong the "secret" is by the time it reaches the end of the circle.
A "Secret" Example: Sparks Sing Silly Songs at Sunset
BUSY BEES
Materials: None
Get the girls moving around the room buzzing like bees
Call out the name of a body part like Nose or Elbow
The girls Stop and touch noses or Elbows with another girl.
MOO COW MOO
Materials: handkerchief for blindfold
Everyone sits in a circle with one girl in the middle blindfolded
Sing a Favorite Short song, something like Row Row Row your Boat
The girl in the middle can stop the song at anytime by saying STOP!
When she says STOP then the leader taps another girl sitting in the circle who then says MOO COW MOO.
The girl with the blindfold tries to guess who it is, and then the girl who was Mooing gets to be the blindfolded one for the next turn.
You can use, Squeak Mouse Squeak, or Hoot Owl Hoot, or whatever you come up with.
SUITCASE RELAY
Materials:
2 Hats
2 Pairs of Pants ( bigger than the girls size maybe 12s)
2 Pairs of Adult Sneakers
2 Suitcases (paper grocery sack works)
Form two relay teams and then divide each team into two subgroups facing each other a short distance apart.
Put a Suitcase full of clothes in front of the first child in one of the sub groups of each team.
{make sure all buttons are buttoned and laces tied before hand}
Then they get dressed in the dress up stuff pick up the suitcase and run to their team mates across from them.
Then the take off the close and put them back in the suitcase and the whole process starts again till each girl from one team has dressed and undressed.
Fox and Squirrel Tag
The Girls arrange themselves in threes, except for two that you pick to be a fox and a squirrel.
The groups of three:
2 make a tree by holding each others hands up high and 1 is a squirrel that sits inside the tree.
The game begins: The fox chases the squirrel who may find refuge in one of the trees but the squirrel that was in that tree must now run for a new tree.
If the fox tags a squirrel then that squirrel is now the fox and the fox is now the squirrel.
NOTE: Keep a close eye, there is only supposed to be 1 fox and 1 squirrel running around at any given time.
We usually switch trees and squirrels around once in awhile so everyone has a chance at running around.
LADDERS
The girls pair up and sit in a row facing each other bottoms of feet touching and legs together.
Each pair gets a number.
Leader calls the numbers out.
When a pairs # is called they get up and run up the ladder jumping over the other girls legs ( that are kept close together) and then split and each girl runs down each side of the ladder and then jump back up over legs till they get back to their spot.
NOTE:
THEY LOVE This game but you have to make sure they are keeping their legs and feet tightly close together for tripping is easy if they are not careful.
