Once again, the rules: Only your main character can cast Find Familiar, and then only if your character can cast Wizard spells. If your
Familiar dies, you may cast the spell again to get a replacement, but you may not have more than 1 Familiar at the same time. Note that when your
Familiar is out on its own, it may get lost at times, when the party moves from one area to another, so either keep your Familiar safely tucked into
your Backpack or keep track of it at all times, in case it gets lost. If it does get lost and you can't find it again, you will not be able to
summon another one. Each Familiar has its own number of hitpointswhen you summon your Familiar, your maximum hitpoints will increase by an amount
equal to half of your Familiar's total hitpoints. Most Familiars have 24 hp, granting you a 12 hp bonus, a nice benefit for a low-hp Wizard or Rogue.
Note that a Sorcerer would be a fool to choose Find Familiar as one of his spells, as you only need to cast it once. Just find a scroll and use that.
All of the Familiars can Pick Pockets, but only the Ferret has any appreciable skill in the area, and even then it isn't safe, unless maybe you cast
Luck on it first or something. Some of the Familiars can Detect Traps, but they cannot Disarm them.
Which Familiar you will get is determined by your PC's Alignment, as follows:

When your Familiar is out of your pack, you can talk to itit won't provide you with a wealth of new information, but you can pet it
or punish it if you want to. This is also how you get items that your Familiar has pickpocketed. Make sure to heal your Familiar if necessary.
