After High School I swam around in Lake Stupid for a while. Hell, I owned property on it! But, eventually I came around. It's ok to be honest with ourselves once in a while.
I attended Mesa and Palomar Colleges for a while but didn't accomplish much.
I enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in the winter of 89' and went on to Bootcamp in Cape May, NJ in April of 1990 and still serve to this day.
I've been stationed in California, Massachusetts and Connecticut.
Today I hold the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2 (Finance & Supply Specialist) and currently deployed to the Middle East in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (residing on the grounds of the "lovely" Camp Patriot). Guys jokingly call me "Combat Coastie."
Since 2002 I've spent time in Kuwait, Bahrain, Fujairah, Dubai and Iraq - all "boots on the ground" time. I've received numerous military awards over the years but the two I'm most proud of are the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and my nomination as Military Comptroller of the Year in 2005.
I went back to college as a 3rd Class Petty Officer in 1997 and graduated in 2001 w/a BS in Business Management. Since then I've gone on to attend Villanova and Webster - where I'm still plugging away at my MA.
In July of this year, just prior to my deployment, I was married to the beautiful Veronica Soto from Downey, CA - my first marriage. Along with Veronica came two boys, Daniel (10) and Sergio (16). |
