Weyrleader's Office - Fort Weyr(#784RJh)
The room measures fifteen feet square, rounded 'ceiling' arching almost as high overhead; 'storage units' line all four walls to the eight foot mark, interrupted only by doorways leading north to the weyrleader's bedchamber and west to the entry ledge. A combination desk and conference 'table' occupies most of the room, leaving a scant three foot space between it and the shelving all the way around. Brightly colored braided rugs dot the smoothly-ground floor, contrasting with the dark near-black stone and warm brown woodwork, and a plentitude of glowbaskets hanging from hooks here and there provide even illumination.

S'vilen steps in, pulling off his glove. "You wanted to see me, Sir?" he asks, snapping a salute.

T'myn smiles a bit as her returns the salute and he indicates for S'vilen to take a seat. He seats himself before he begins speaking. "I've been watching your work," he starts out.

S'vilen edges over and takes the seat, expression expectant, simply nodding as he listens.

T'myn continues to speak. "You've been doing very well in your wing and I've a promotion for you if you'd be willing to accept it." He pauses for a reaction before revealing just what the promotion will be.

S'vilen's eyebrows lift in surprise. "A promotion?" he echoes blankly. After a moment, he regathers his composure and relaxes. "I, er, what to?" he finishes.

T'myn smiles just a bit. "Well, for one, would you be interested a wingsecond position?" he inquires.

S'vilen does a little better this time. "Yes. I would be honored, Sir," he replies with poise.

T'myn nods approvingly, giving a pleased smile. "I'm glad to hear it," he says. "In that case, I'd like to ask you to be Weyrsecond...which would also make you one of my wingseconds."

S'vilen's widen and he takes a moment before saying. "I'm surprised, but I'd be happy to fill the position for you," he manages.

T'myn smiles widely this time, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a Weyrsecond's knot. "I'm glad to have you," he says offering the knot and once that's been taken, a handshake.

S'vilen breaks into his customary grin as he takes the knot, transfers it to his other hand and returns the handshake firmly. "Thank you!"

You exit the Weyrleader's office for the ledge/tunnel outside.

You amble eastwards to the bright and cheerful living caverns.

Living Cavern - Fort Weyr(#101RIJM)

This large cavern spans far into shadowy heights where little illumination ever reaches and to all sides, providing a communal room where residents and riders alike can congregate together for supping or companionship. Usually, there are open glow baskets providing much of the light within the great cavern, though some sections remain in dim darkness. Along the northern, sloping stone wall are several hearths delved from the rock where the preparation of food seems to take place throughout the day. Tables surround the hearths to mark off the area. Further along the wall are some smaller hearths. In one, a kettle always simmers over the fire, holding klah. At another, a kettle of porridge or stew is made available. Quite a number of chairs are situated near these smaller hearths in order to catch the best warmth during the cold season. Many tables, chairs and benches provide seating as well as places to eat, game, or to be put to whatever use they are needed. Stands of branching wood, looking much like many armed perches, have been placed around the cavern to provide rest for firelizards.
The exit into the bowl yawns toward the west, with other tunnels to the southeast and east leading deeper within the stony Weyr. Directly south is the infirmary while north is a small game room and northeast the stores.

"Try -what- now?" That'd be Logan's question, which doesn't come out sounding too nice. But then he looks down at the candy, and plucks it from Palia with his fingertips, holding it up to peer at it curiously. "Candy, huh?" He smirks, and rubs at his smudged forehead with the back of his free hand, before popping the candy into his mouth. He chews...swallows, and then hms. "Not bad." He even steps after Palia when she moves away. "What was in it?"

J'van laughs at C'val's response, then winks "Not what I heard.." He notes, managing to get another piece off his tray and handing it to another eager little hand, waving aftewards at the arrival of S'vilen. "Come and get some of Palia's candy, bronzerider!" he offers.

Yilisa ambles in from the northeastern bowl outside.

Yilisa trundles in, hands stuffed in her pockets, whistling absently as per usual.

C'val chuckles at Nicole and J'van. As he notices Yilisa enter out of the corner of his eye he says, "Oh you must be listening to 'Lis to much then."

S'vilen struts into the weyrhall with a tad more swagger than he usually has. "Candy?" he asks, head turning towards the offer with a broad grin. "I'd love some." He strides over to the tray to inspect the choices.

"Quite well I believe," Palia smiles at Eliwys. She nods and then moves to Tarna. "I believe I have a cloth napkin that should hold it. Or a cookie bag." She blushes and glows practically under the praise of the candies. "Thank you. Tell the Master Baker next time you're in the kitchen," she teases with a smile. Oh she'll hope to get that journeyman knot yet after candidacy.

Eliwys tosses a look over her shoulder, eyes flashing with amusement at something, and then grins at Palia, "Do you have any i could try?" she asks, looking fairly intrigued with what's going on, "Nothing too messy though."

J'van grins at C'val, though his gaze goes to Eliwys and then to Yilisa "Actually, I believe it was another little bird that whispered it in my ear...I was crushed, I can tell you" He holds out a piece of candy to Eli "Here...you had best take this quick, before the 'brats get it.." They are sneaky that way. "Want some, 'Lis?" he offeres to the greenrider as well.

Yilisa quirks an eyebrow. "Candy? Gracious me. Eli, thanks for bringing up that stuff that you found at Monaco. Great help." She glances about, before blinking at S'vilen. "Nice knot," she comments absently, before grinning at J'van. "Sure," she says, holding her hand out.

Shoshana nods, scooping up her skin and delivering it to the 'to-be-washed' pile. She returns to her tin, giving it another careful inspection and a few pokes. It's decided to be done, and quickly removed from the snow. Something is remembered, possibly a chore undone, and she begins to walk quickly to the door, waving a little goodbye to everyone. She pauses near Palia though, "This was great Palia." she says with a quick grin, before slipping out.

Shoshana goes home.

Nicole rolls her eyes at C'val. "Not to Yilisa, I don't think. Not that she isn't fun to listen to... well, most of the time." Like when she isn't busy scolding you for being stupid. "She turns and flashes a slight glare at J'van. "Brat," she hisses before turning to wave at the greenrider. "Hello Yilisa! Come have some candy and spoil that perfect figure of yours!"

Eliwys holds out her hand to J'van, intent on taking that candy, her smile is flashed towards Yilisa, "I found it interesting. I'm pretty sure there's more in there, it's just going to take time for find it all." Boring stuff. Hide Stuff.

C'val decides to simply chuckle and munch on a bit of candy for now.

Palia smiles at Eliwys and nods. She picks up her own tin in which she made the demonstrative candy heart. The heart is broken.. and the N and apostrophe are missing leaving only D ie. Oh dear. Palia hurriedly scrapes away the I and holds out to Eliwys but sees she has taken J'van's offering. Looking highly relieved, Palia passes off the I in D'rien's name over to a child.

Prysm eats the piece of candy Palia gave her, returning quietly to the children's table, where she's immediately surrounded and hugged, tugged and poked with sticky little hands. "Hey! Watch the hair," Prysm warns, winching at a little fist decides to pull at it, giggling. "Now, show me what you've got. Hey. What d'you mean you ate all of it?"

S'vilen flashes a grin at Yilisa, then peers around at the pans. "We just take a piece? Or ought I beg the maker for it?" he asks curiously, turning to look at Palia.

Tarna nods in response and walks in the direction of Palia's pointed finger. She carefully places the candy in one of the provided napkins, breaking a piece off to taste Palia's handiwork. "Mmmmm.. Palia, this is as good as the stuff I had as a child, I'm sure you'll get your Journeyman's knot now, if you keep baking treats as good as these" Tarna can't resist, popping another broken off piece in her mouth, smiling with delight as she does.

J'van just grins at Nicole before poking at the rest of his candy, passing it out to small hands in varying states of grubbiness. "Okay, that's it. I'm out." He announces as hte last piece is given away - and suddenly finds himself bereft of clamoring beggars "Well,...guess I know how loved I am.." He murmurs to the Eliwys, obviously amused. "Palia, you did a wonderful job. We'll have to do it again sometime."

Yilisa snatches a piece of candy from somewhere or another, chewing on it thoughtfully. 'Nicole, I work out too much for something like this to spoil my figure," she quips with a wink, chewing some more. "I find it interesting too, Eli, but I imagine it's only crazy folk like you and I that do."

Eliwys giggles at J'van, taking the candy and chewing on the end. A look of surprise, and a nod goes to Palia, "Very nice."

"Thank you," Palia could bask in the praise all day, but soon its time to start cleaning up the mess the kids made. Especially as they like to scurry away before they are caught to do the chores themselves. Giggling, Palia and Ria begin to collect pie tins that are starting to melt with only water inside them and the stick, messy skins that held the candy. "Oh this was fun," Palia says to Ria. "Think the Master Baker will count this one?" Ria nods.

Nicole giggles at Yilisa. "Too true. But it's always fun to threaten you. It gives the other girls in the weyr hope." She laughs some more and then glances at C'val. "Still feeling like the silent type? Wanna pass around one of the tins to those who haven't gotten any candy yet?"

"And sticky hands," Prysm remarks, dryly, to Logan. Her face and clothing is now covered by gooey handprints. "Very funny," she ah-hahas at a boy of about ten that smears vanilla across her cheek, and jumps up, chasing him around the cavern. "Get back here, you twit! I'm gonna tickle you senseless!"

Tarna carefully wraps her remaining candy in its napkin, and starts to make her way to the bowl exit. She stops over near Palia, giving her baking skills yet another compliment, "Again, this stuff is just lovely, we'll have to have another candy day at the Weyr soon ... I'll see you later, I've still got some work to do" She gives her farewells to the others as she disappears out into the bowl.

C'val smiles, "Of course," as he passes of a tin only keeping one piece for himself. "And what's so horrible about being the silent one."

Logan goes home.

Tarna walks off westwards to the bowl floor outside.

S'vilen rubs his hand along the side of his head, and finally just snags a candy out of an unattended snowpan. When no one protests, he snitches a second, and tucks it away. He crunches happily on the first and looks around.

Yilisa is munching happily on her candy, yep, you betcha. "You can try all you want, Nicole, but it won't help any," she quips, peering about at the beehive of activity. "Such a lively bunch."

Nicole grins widely at Yilisa. "Yes, but keeping morale up is part of the community service I perform. So I'll just stuff you with candy for a bit." She passes another over and then glances around to see who's left, since the caverns do suddenly seem to be starting to empty.

Palia doesn't miss S'vilen snagging candy out of the tin and makes to scold him. But her gaze falls on something, something to do with his clothing. "Oh!" Palia was so busy she missed all earlier comments on his new knot. "Greetings Weyrsecond," Oh sweet Faranth thank goodness she didn't tease. "Have some more?" Is offered to the bronzerider instead with a smile.

Prysm brushes past S'vilen on her mad chasing of the ten-turn old, and stops, noticing his new know. "S'vilen! Is that... are you...?" She blinkblinks up at him, boy-chasing forgotten.

Eliwys pops the last piece of candy into her mouth, following it up by cleaning her fingers on a nearby cloth. A curious look is given to J'van, and then a grin, "I guess we could" she remarks.

J'van nods, looking somewhat relieved. "Good...if nothing else, we can get away from this sticky mess. Shall we?" he indicates the exit, smiling over at Palia "Have the children help you clean up, candidate...then relax. You worked hard." And now he's going to go relax too.

J'van walks off westwards to the bowl floor outside.

"Thank you," Palia grins at D'rien. Ria has already carried a few tins back into the kitchens to be cleaned. The tables are also being wiped down by a few candidates including Korali, Rane and Relcey.

S'vilen looks over his shoulder as Palia speaks to...oh, that was him, he looks back to her, then shakes his head with a bit of a blush. "No, no. This is quite enough," he assures her. "I just wanted the a taste, since J'van offered." Then he reddens again at Prysm. "Er, yes," he informs her.

Eliwys shakes her head, shoving hands into her pockets and following J'van out. She stops on the way by, whispering something to Yilisa, and then continues on.

Eliwys walks off westwards to the bowl floor outside.

Prysm beams up at S'vilen. "That's fantastic!" She goes up on tippi-toe to kiss his cheek. "Have you told Moloka yet?" She raises her eyebrows, teasing. "You guys should go celebrate."

Yilisa eyes J'van and Eliwys as they leave. "Hooboy," she mutters, before popping the last of the candy in her mouth. "Things get stranger every day 'round here, have you noticed, Nikki?"

Nicole shrugs silenty as the pair walks off together. She watches them disappear for a moment and then turns back to Yilisa. "Um, yes. I have, actually. It's just as well, I suppose. We'd get bored otherwise." She notices S'vilien and then waves to him. "Hey, Siv. Congratulations, by the way."

S'vilen grins, bending a bit to receive the kiss, with a terribly pleased expression on his face. Straightening, he shakes his head at her question. "No, I've only just come from T'myn's office," he tells her. Attention turning to Nicole, he inclines his head to her, smiling, still. "Thank you, Nicole," he responds.

Quick hands, make quick work of the mess until the cavern is restored to its former glory of non-sticky tables, tins and skins gone to be washed and Palia looking quite pleased as she wipes her hands on the towel before tossing it in a laundry pile. Oh she does hope that was dirty and not fresh laundry. "Oh that was fun." Yes fun but *Collasp* Palia sinks into a chair looking highly grateful at such a successful lesson.

D'rien smiles and grins at Palia before he gets the last of the clutter cleared away, "I need to head out, I've got sweeps in the morning."

"Prysm you oaf, off!" Palia groans her intent to rise and give D'rien a kiss thwarted. Oh wait..she can't kiss him anyways because of candidacy. "G'night sweetie!" She waves trying to see her love over Prysm's body in front of her. "Have fun in the morning. Say good night to Falnerith for me."

Yilisa shrugs fluidly, chewing on a candy absently. "You'll do great, Siv," she notes to the younger bronzerider, before shrugging at Nicole again. "Eh. I could do with some good oldfashioned boredom every now and again."

D'rien chuckles softly and he blinks at the term sweetie before waving, "Goodnight dear." he says before nodding to everyone and heading for the bowl and his weyr.

D'rien walks off westwards to the bowl floor outside.

Prysm beams at Palia. That's right! No kisses allowed. She rolls her eyes at D'rien's pet name, but waves to him as well.

S'vilen drops into a chair, looking over at Yilisa a little anxiously. "You think so?" he asks hopefully. "Not that I doubt T'myn's judgement, it was just quite a surprise."

Oh she needs to find a way out of this. Palia manages to get free of Prysm only after a well placed pinch to Prysm's butt in her lap. She's grinning as she does it and then stands telling her best friend, "Good night Prysm. See you for chores tomorrow." She waves and heads off towards the barracks.

Nicole quirks her mouth at Yilisa. "You only say that now... but you'd go crazy if you didn't have some excitement in your life. I bet you'd least a sevenday, tops."

Nicole has partially disconnected.

Prysm yelps, jumping off Palia and rubbing her rump with a small glare. "Bye!" She calls sweetly, trying hard not to laugh.

Palia walks off eastwards to the eastern part of the lower caverns.

Yilisa nods firmly at S'vilen. "You bet I think so. You'll be great at it, and if you disagree with me I'll pound you." Never argue with a pounding. "Heh. Nicole, between the twins, the Candidates, and trying to sort myself out for this Hatching, I've all the excitement I need."

S'vilen laughs agreeably. "Yes, Ma'am," he teases. "There certainly seems to be enough excitement going on here, for Perymith's taste, anyway."

Prysm is still rubbing where Palia pinched as she heads for the food tables, narrowing her eyes at the wide selection and suddenly realizing how very sticky she is. She needs a bath. And a lot of those youngsters will probably need one too. And need someone there to make sure they scrub hard enough. "I'm going to the bathing caverns," the girl comments, mostly to herself, and nods to the others, snatching up a few children and sheparding them, gently, towards the lower caverns. Once a nanny always a nanny.

Yilisa grins broadly at S'vilen. "Heh. Is he suitably amused then?" Chew, chew, chew. Candy is pernicious stuff when you get it stuck in your teeth.

Prysm walks off westwards to the bowl floor outside.

Prysm ambles in from the northeastern bowl outside.

Prysm walks off eastwards to the eastern part of the lower caverns.

Nicole pushes back from the table and rises, "Well, I think I'm heading back to the sands. Rhiannoth's getting restless," she notes. "Have a good evening, all!"

S'vilen chuckles, "Oh, yes, he's quite pleased, now." The bronzerider lifts a hand to wave to Nicole, "You, too, Nicole!"

Yilisa waves cordially at Nicole. "Have a good night, Nicole. Don't let Rhiannoth get too restless." Siv gets a laugh. "Good on him."

Nicole waves again and steps out.

Nicole walks off westwards to the bowl floor outside.

S'vilen sucks on a sticky finger for a moment, then turns to ask Yilisa, "How are you doing? Are the Candidates running you ragged?"

Yilisa chuckles dryly, running a hand over her hair and patting at her braids. "That's a mild way of putting it," she says with a chuckle. "I'm going nuts."

S'vilen makes a sympathetic face. "Erg. Found any way to relax sufficiently?" he asks. "Somewhere the candidates can't find you?"

Yilisa sighs, wrinkling her nose. "Not really. M'kal's busy training. J'van's busy with either the eggs or wooing Eliwys. A'then's chasing some girl at Monaco. And so I get to work myself to a frazzle."

S'vilen grimaces. "That's rough, Lisa. How about a trip to the South - somewhere warm - for an afternoon?"

Yilisa pulls a face, "I hate being off on my own, though. That's my whole problem. I'd rather be in company, but nobody's got time to go anywhere with me."

S'vilen nods. "That is a problem. If Moloka and I have the time to take a break, though, I'll be sure to drag you along with us. How's that?"

Yilisa chuckles dryly, ruffling a hand through her hair. "Nah. I'd rather not intrude. I've got no place in what you two have and I know it. So you needn't do that."

S'vilen shakes his head. "Doesn't mean you can't come along as a friend, Yilisa." Then he tips his head towards the bowl and stands. "I'd best be going," he reports. "We'll figure something out to get you a break before these guys turn into weyrlings on you."

Yilisa stands up, fluidly, smiling gently in the process. "Thanks, Siv. I could really use one but I'm not holding my breath. Congratulations again."

S'vilen grins, ducking his head. "Thanks, Yilisa," he says before heading out into the bowl.

You amble westwards to the bowl floor outside.
