Introduction
Aujaq Fonts are based on the Mac
Roman table and therefore only work properly on the Mac. They
can be used to type both Syllabics and Roman when used with the
Aujaq-titut keyboard in Mac OS 7+. They do work with Apple Systems
6 and 7 keyboards but the Syllabic characters will be disabled.
Aujaq-titut keyboard uses CAPS LOCK key to switch back and forth
between the Syllabic and Roman "modes". CAPS LOCK ON
(IN) for Syllabics and CAPS LOCK OFF (OUT) for Roman.
Aujaq Fonts have one problem in
Microsoft Word 6 and up. One symbol cannot be displayed properly.
It appears as a box but it prints properly though. This seems
to be a Microsoft Word 6+ issue as it does not happen in any
other application.
In Mac OSX the syllabics in
Aujaq appear and print properly but it is not possible to make
an input method yet (keyboard layout). Aujaq Fonts and Aujaq-titut
keyboard still work very well under OS 7, 8 & 9 with
"Mac Roman table" friendly applications other than
MSWord like Appleworks, QuarkXpress, even MSExcel, etc.
Aujaq-titut Keyboard
Aujaq Fonts can be used to type
both Syllabics and Roman using Aujaq-titut keyboard. Aujaq-titut
has a similar layout as Naamajut in System 6 with some improvements.
CAPS LOCK key is used to switch between the Syllabics and Roman
"modes". CAPS LOCK key must be ON (IN) for Syllabics
and OFF (OUT) for Roman. The OPTION key or the APOSTROPHE key
can be used to get the dotted characters. New symbols have also
been added that are not in Naamajut. See the Aujaq-titut Keyboard
layout below for the new characters and other improvements.
Aujaq Fonts have been developed
for the purpose of promoting and enhancing Inuktitut. Aujaq Fonts
may be freely copied and distributed but may not be sold for
profit.
