Elephants, Waterfalls
and Monkeys
Elephant Treking in Phuket...though a touristy thing to do, we just couldn't pass it up.  Amazing animals, a bit on the slow side, but an interesting ride.  These guys are just huge! Gentle creatures that seem march through dense terrain with ease.  At the end of the ride you can feed them a bunch of bananas, which they gobble up in about 2 seconds!

The waterfalls are from Phuket, were quite beautiful....and produce a rather strong current!
Elephants in Thailand are generally treated well, but there are growing concerns that many of these animals are being mistreated and animal rights activits are pressuring the government for more intervention.  The Elephant is ofcourse the country's national symbol (so expect something with elephants on it for Christmas)
These little guys will eat anything and everthing they can get their grubby little paws on. The picture on the right is from the "floating village", which is a large Muslim community in the Phan Nga region. Quite an interesting place...
I think if I had a house here I would definitely get a pet monkey.  When you interact with them up close they're so amazing!
Phuket is definitely an area I plan to return to since the beaches are beautiful and there is some pretty awesome diving in this region as well.  Hopefully I will be able to do more of that in the second semester.  So what do you guys think of Survivor Thailand?
