| Welcome Aboard!! Thank you for such a wonderful welcome to Sitka. We are excited to have our new homestead in this tight-knit community and to be experiencing another great Alaskan city. As aptly stated in the book "Looking for Alaska" by Peter Jenkins, "Alaska is the world's largest small town." I'm really looking forward to participating in Sitka's Coast Guard Spouses' and Women's Association. The spouse's association at each of our duty stations has provided my family the necessary balance and support to feel at home. My roots start in Clearwater, Florida, and I haven't lived there in many years. However, when asked where my home is, I can honestly say, "Where the Coast Guard sends us." The reason I feel secure is because of the great support network among Coast Guard spouses. When you step off the ferry and receive the "Welcome Packet" you know you're home after a long journey, and that is a wonderful feeling. We are fortunate to have a terrific Coast Guard Spouses' and Women's Association and members who are eager to be a part of the many traditions. There are events planned for the entire year and ways for everyone to be involved. The Coast Guard Spouses' and Women's Association has a history of serving its Coast Guard members and their families in addition to playing a very active role in the community. Thank you for being a part of an organization that has a long standing history of excellence. Together we can continue on a path of success in serving others. In the words of Winston Churchill, "We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give." See you at the upcoming events, Kimberly Turner, Honorary President |
