SINGAPORE : Hobbit craze reaches fever
pitch on Monday night with the Lord of the Rings: Return of
the King premiere.
The highly anticipated final
instalment of Peter Jackson's groundbreaking trilogy will be
playing to packed audiences starting on Wednesday.
And Monday night's gala premiere
kicked off with some quirky fun as fans join the final battle
for Middle Earth.
Shaw House was buzzing with wizards,
hobbits, elves and dwarves from Middle Earth just before the
premiere.
But more importantly, there were the bevy of
loyal and devoted fans.
"Once is not enough, there is
so much detail in it, it is over three-and-a-half
hours."
"I am supposed to be Arwen Evenstar. And I am
really excited to see the film because it has been something I
have been waiting for eversince the last film."
"You
wait three years for the return of the king, so definitely, I
am very excited to watch that."
There were also
exhibits on the making of the movie and a sneak preview of a
travelling Lord of the Rings exhibit that will come to the
Singapore Science Centre early next year.
Besides
replicas of the swords used in the movie, there were also more
high-tech gadgets to show how the groundbreaking trilogy was
filmed.
And the highly anticipated movie was also
shrouded in secrecy - two days before its general release to
the public.
All mobile phones with digital cameras or
any other recording devices were banned from the theatre.
Owners had to deposit them at counters just outside the
screening room.
But for many of these excited fans, it
looks like they would do anything to start their journey to
Middle Earth. - CNA
