Something For Kate - Echolalia (Sony)
Taking the crown as their finest release to date, Something for Kate's
third LP makrs yet another mutation in their evolution. A lyrical
feast, Echolalia glistens with a productionand sensibility that is lacking
on any of their previous works and exudes intelligence and refinement.
First single 'Monsters' is indicative of what is to be found amoungst
Echolalia's 13 tracks - an understated leaning towards lyrical intensity
and theme rather than guitar riff or hook, all the while shimmering in
a euphoric beauty that drifts from track to track in a life altering haze.
Of most note is the album's attention to pace, urgency, and flow, swinging
from the calm ('Stunt Show', 'You Only Hide', 'Old Pictures') to the punchy
('Say Something', 'Three Dimensions') and the panic-stricken ('Feeding
the Birds and Hoping for Something In Return'), adding to the involuntary
response this album draws from you.
A masterpiece that will leave you breathless, inspire, introspective,
restless, weeping, stung and glowing - all at the same time, and begging
for more.
