As a Teacher

Sanjoy has proved himself as a teacher with thorough understanding of the music pedagogy. As a result he could successfully presented a number of disciples those are making a stamp on the music listening public.

Foremost among them is Sh. Kushal Das. Kushal who is steadily coming up as a leading sitar player of the current generation. His sitar is getting acclamation both in India and in Western countries. Recently Ocora, Radio France has produced his CD.

Sh. Siddhartha Mukherjee [Sitar] a recipient of National Scholarship from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, a promising sitar player

Miss Pragya Pyasi [Sitar] has also received National Scholarship from the Ministry of Tourism & Culture. She also won National Inter-University Music Meet held at Banaras Hindu University.

 

As an Academician

 

Pioneering activity in allied fields:

Sanjoy Bandopadhyay put in pioneering efforts for the introduction of Computer Music & Music Production in India. He worked as Project Initiator & In-Charge and the course is to start very shortly at the Indira Kala Sangeet University. The project design was done in collaboration with Dr. Bernard Bel, Bernard Bel <[email protected]>

September 2001

 

Prof. Bandopadhyay participated at the 20~22 September 2001 Seminar titled Sonorous Texture / Netcasting and Distance Education in Music at Kuhmo, Finland by Sibelius Academy [sponsored by the Finnish Academy of Sciences]. He also lectured and did presentations on Indian Music at the Jyväskylä University,  Kuopio Music Center and Sibelius Academy, Helsinki.

During earlier years he visited State Kala Academy, Panaji as Visiting Professor. He was invited in a number of Universities for lectures, this includes many the University of Delhi, University of Allahabad, etc.

 

Executed Project

Current Projects/activities

·          Music Instrumentation research and development project at the Department of Instrumental Music, Rabindra Bharati University. This project is aimed at scientific standardization of Indian musical instruments. The project will run in collaboration with the faculties of the Department of Physics & Meteorology,  Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and Department of Mechanical Engineering, Jadavpur University.
