| PART TWO AUTHOR: SisterWine Rating: PG-17, maybe NC-17 later on. Warnings: It has that horrid Rogue in it! And some casual silliness. DISCLAIMER: They aren't mine. Marvel Comics and 20th Century Fox owns them. Summary: I was just thinking about what would Remy's first mission be, after he and Logan had moved back into the LeBeau Manor in LA. I know, I know, I'm stuck on the series. It really haunts me. I'm not meaning to sound conceited, or biased or anything. I was just wondering. Scott, Beast, and Rogue had entered through the front of the complex. Scott hadn't been complete comfortable with the fact at hand. Whether it was the knowledge of Logan coming in from the backdoor, or the fact that he still didn't fully believe that Remy was a good addition to the group. When Remy had first "come together" in the Danger Room, he'd had his doubts. The subtle charisma and a 6-year old's curiosity is what had eventually made him jealous. To be quite honest, he had rather preferred Logan to be the jealous one, and continue his pleading for Jean. Since Remy had come into the picture, it was Scott who was now the one overlooked. Beast had claimed Remy as an anomalie. In the 9 months that Logan and Remy had been in Louisiana, he and Remy had shared many a phone conversations, as well as person to person visits, discussing everything that had changed in the world, under the sun. Remy had even allowed himself to be studied by Beast, and Charles, as well. It had taken months to get to know the base fact in Remy's hauntings of Logan's dreams but, he had also been very understanding of the peculiar behaviour the boy had presented. Even he, was eager to see Remy in action on the mission. Aside from Scott, Rogue was one of the most sensitive to Remy being with the group. She had admitted outright to Logan that she didn't think he should keep company with "dead people". Logan had only slapped her back, telling her that she was still in denial of the end of their relationship and that Remy had known Logan long before the girl did. Rogue had even gone so far as to make not only one or two, but four blatant attempts to seduce Remy and force Logan to see that the Cajun was nothing more than a common street whore. She had failed each attempt. Scott's eyes blasted holes into the guards station on the outside of the door. Beast, in turn, had volunteered to open the locked security door by turning the knob until it gave under his brute strength. Rogue had taken care of the guards and gave them a view of the other side of their lush base, giving them the opportunity to examine nature from a sturdy tree limb. Gathering together, Rogue activated her comlink to inform Storm and Logan that they had made it inside and were now heading towards the control room on Level 2. "Acknowledged. We are coming into the main hallway of laboratories. Logan doesn't think Jean is in any of these rooms, but he is convinced she is somewhere in the building." Storm's firm voice carried through the com, clearly. "Raight. We'll let'cha know what we find in the camera room. Y'all just be careful." Rogue drawled. She had kept watch in the corridor as Cyclops and Beast removed the door from it's hinges and entered the video-cluttered room to search for Jean. Leaning against the wall, to the right of the door, she folded her arms and listened as best she could for any noise. Looking to her right, she narrowed her eyes and smirked. "Beast, Cyclops, we got comp'ny." Poking her head into the small room and informing the two men who had been staring at a specific monitor, she turned back quickly to see four red-plated metal guards making their way to her. Cyclops was the first through the door. Firing blast after blast at the armed guards, who in return, fired back. "Storm, Jean is on Level 3, in a containment room. Tell Logan to meet us there as soon as you can. We've hit company." He called into his comlink as he managed to blast 3 more approaching guards. "Thanks for sharin, but Storm aint in a condition to come to the phone at the moment. Our welcome wagon just arrived." Logan barked. Scott stopped and thought for a moment. "Right. We'll let you know when we have Jean." ~.~.~.~ Logan hadn't exactly been specific in the form of the welcome wagon. He wasn't even worried about getting to Jean first. He was only concerned about keeping Remy and Jubilee out of the claws of Sabretooth. So far, with Remy's new-found old abilities, he needn't worry too much. While Storm dealt with other obstacles that had accompanied the overgrown yellow-haired furball with an attitude, Logan ordered Remy to stay in between Creed and Jubilee. "Aww, what's the matter runt? I was just gonna offer her some barbie dolls to play with." Creed snarled a wry grin and matching statement. He tried several times to rip the asian girl apart, but was only forced to cringe back as glowing playing cards marked his path. "Pretty little bitch, runt. He yours?" "Kid, back off!" "Non!" "Remy! Listen to me." Creed smiled, wickedly. "Ooooh, Remy, huh?" Creed mocked and stepped closer and grabbed Remy's left wrist as it held up another card. "Pretty name for a soon to be dead brat!" "I am listenin. Y' tell me t' stay between dem. Dis petite's leavin wit' me." "You can't handle him. Take her and get lost!" Logan had been shot aback by Remy's unwillingness to move. He knew Remy was only doing what he was told to but, Remy had gone from calm and serene to viscious and defensive in a single breath. In any other circumstances, he would have been glad to see Remy take on Creed. But, this wasn't any other circumstance, and Remy was just getting warmed up. Logan took another swing at an oncoming metal guard, and watched it spark and twitch as it fell to the floor, before racing across the room to stand in between Remy and Sabretooth. "Back off, bub! The kid aint gonna be your scratchin post!" Swatting at Creeds wrist, causing the yellow-haired animal to release Remy. Stumbling back, out of the fight, Remy grabbed Jubilee as she huddled into the wall behind her, and ran to help Storm fight back the droids in the corridor. Taking quick account of his playing card stash, Remy took out another full deck and tossed the box- after charging it- at a doorway behind and to the left of him. He shoved Jubilee into the empty room and told her to stay put. Jubilee ran to the door and tried to open it. No luck. She twisted and turned the knob before eventually giving in and trying to zap her way out. Pointing her right index finger at the lock, below the knob, a rainbow of power zapped at the metal and managed to crack the door open. She peered into the busy corridor and watched as Remy and Storm were busy attacking and dodging huge, red metal guards. "Yowzers! He's gonna be.... I'd better..... before he is...." Without wasting another moment, Jubilee opened the door as Remy had come to stand in front of it, facing away from where they had come from. She leapt forward and knocked square into Remy's left shoulder, knocking him to the right, into a wall. "Ow." Remy groaned. "Merci, petite. But, ol Remy can take it from here." He had landed with his back against the wall, with Jubilee atop him. Rubbing his head, he checked to see if she was okay. He was relieved that she looked up and acknowledged him. He smelled of baby powder and fruit and faint pepper. He smelled wonderful. She had never really been so close to him as to feel his heartbeat or his next breath. Now, she knew how Logan felt. Now she knew this 'anomalie' was human, and warm. ~.~.~.~ Scott blasted the door open and quickly scanned the room for anyone else, other than Jean. He found her alone, on an examination table, a flimsy gown covering her body as it was hooked up to numoreous wires and tubes going in and out of her. Letting Rogue and Beast cover the entrance, he ran into the room and stopped by her side. "Jean...? Jean, can you hear me?" Jean slept on a padded table, with a machine hovering over her head and buttons and scanners beeping, and moving lines across screens. A bed to the left and right of hers, made him think about how to unhook and carry her out of the room. Reaching for a tube that was inserted in her abdomen via needle, he stopped and thought of a more elaborate way. Not a twitch from her as he debated on pulling the tube out. "No." He thought. "Beast, I need your help." Kicking a yellow robot out of the way of the door, Beast turned and examined the situation. "Switch with me, and I shall assess the treatment of our fair telepath." Passing Scott in the switch, his eyes narrowed a bit as he came to realise why they had made the switch. Taking a long, deep sigh, he began to find the beginnings and endings of the tubes and wires and removed each one carefully. Rogue punched a red guard square in the T shaped eye, which shorted its circuits instantly. As she threw down the guard's broken and sparking, massive gun, she used her comlink to ask the other team how they were. "Storm, Logan! How y'all doin?" "Finefuckinpeachy, kiddo!" Logan answered back, rather annoyedly. He had just answered in between slashing a few more spots on the wall as Sabretooth had ducked out of the way. "Find Jean, yet?" Hovering in the hall as Cyclops and Beast came out of the room, she spoke again. "Yep, sure did. She's takin a nap, at the moment. But, we'll let ya know when visitin hours are." Watching as Beast carried the limp woman in his arms, and Scott looked around, thinking it was too easy how they had managed to retrieve their own almost freely. "Rogue, take Jean and get out of here. This was too easy, and I'm guessing it isn't the same way for getting out of here. Tell Logan we're heading their way." Scott handed Jean up to the hovering woman and watched them leave, down the same corridor they had come from. Turning to Beast, his expression changed from sorrow to anger. "Let's round up the others and get out of here." Leading the blue furred man the opposite way of Rogue, they had only gone a few yards when doctors in lab coats had spotted them and started calling for guards to help them. ~.~.~.~ Remy had been thrown into a wall and left in a daze. Shaking his head and looking up as a green, hairless Pteradactyl came towards him, he scampered left and rolled right into the feud between Logan and Sabretooth. Hitting Creed's left leg, his eyes widened as the towering yellow-furred beast snarled and grabbed the back of Remy's jacket to lift him up. Remy yelped and struggled against the air around the beast, in bleak attempt to free himself. Creed sneered and laughed his wry and ear-piercing laugh before snarling back at the Cajun. "Pretty bitch, you aint nothin against me." He sniffed. "Mmm, so the runt's claimed you as his, huh? Your dick do tricks, too?" Logan had been flung a few yards out of the way as Creed turned his attention to Remy. He was coming back at them with razorsharp claws and heavy speed. "Leave him ALONE, hairbag!" He yelled and swiped at Creed's chest. He was able to tear 3 ragged gashes into the taller beast before, again, being thrown off and having to watch as Remy was once again acknowledged. Rumbles came from outside. Storm and Logan both looked to the door as a red laser blasted it's way through several metal guards before letting the owner carry in a battered and nearly unconscious Jubilee. Cyclops looked around the room and found Logan had been sitting in a daze, amidst glass beekers and smear trays while Creed held Remy off of the ground, on the other side of the room. "Let him go." Scott said firmly, and moved a hand to his visor, ready to open the beam. "With pleasure." Holding Remy in his right hand, two feet off of the floor, he pulled his arm back and lurched it forward, driving a tired Remy through the closest wall. Logan came to life as he saw Remy cover his face and land in the next room, making a hole for Creed to escape by. "No! Remy!" Springing to his feet and dashing over to where the young Cajun had landed in a pile of wall rubble, he growled at the retreating yellow fur. Looking back to Remy, he knelt down and lifted the boy up, and brushed the hair and dust out of the boy's face. "Remy... Rem? Speak to me, kid.." Much to his surprise, Remy had opened his eyes and stared up, aimlessly, before locking his eyes with Logan's. "You okay?" "Oui." Remy breathed. "M' head hurts, though." He smiled and looked past Logan to see Scott and Beast standing there with Storm, who was now carrying Jubilee. Looking at Scott, directly, he cringed. "Guess Remy mess up, no?" Logan looked back at Cyclops before looking again at Remy. "No darlin. Ya did good. Now it's time to end this game." His faint smile faded as he helped Remy to his feet. "Take the kid and head to the jet." "Wha...? Non! I can finish dis." Remy shook his head and rested a hand on Logan's shoulder to steady himself. Logan held the hand and stared grimly at Remy. "No. You can't. Sabretooth was only half of the nutjobs hangin around here." He inhaled the younger man and said flatly, almost under his breath. "You're done, kid. Let us handle it." Remy pouted and slipped Logan a preview of his anger. "I said no. S' jus' a headache. Dat's all. I carry de petite, keep her safe, but no leave you. D'accord...?" Sighing, Logan nodded. "Allright. But, stay behind me. Got it?" "Oui." More soon.... |
