ESTIMATED GRADUATION DATE
(as of 12.3.2k)
December 15, 2k
James Madison University
Harrisonburg, Virginia, USA
It's been a hell of a semester. Actually, this week is going to be a hell of a week. I've got papers due in every class and the prof for my independent study said I don't have enough research. Grrr. Anyways, the cap and gown have been ordered, announcements are on the way, I'm in the process of packing, so it looks as though I'll be graduating December 15. Woohoo! We'll just see if I pass my PSYC course... All in due time. What am I doing after I graduate? Moving in with the parents until I get enough money to pay for rent and finding a job as a teacher or a counselor. I'll let you know when the time comes (i.e., when I am offered a job).

Ya, I'm a slacker. I never sent the stuff for the internship with MTV. Oh well. No real loss anyway. So, I have my application for graduation in. My schedule is all set up so that I will have completed the required classes for graduation. All I need to do is land a job. I'm still trying to find a job for this semester. That situation looks like it's going to be over. I have an interview on Tuesday and hopefully they'll hire me. :-) I have decided to become a teacher in Florida. We'll see how getting into the teacher licensure program goes and all that.

ok, so i know this has nothing to do with my job *after* i graduate, but i figured...what the heck. i haven't really written anything on here in a while.
i discovered an internship that really fits me, i think. it's just a matter of my getting the position. the position is called a "stringer" or somethin and it's with MTV. basically you go to different concerts every week, write reviews of them, and send them to MTV. pretty sweet, huh? i'm currently updating my resume, working on a cover letter, and coming up with a bit of a writing sample. we'll see how this turns out. at least i've been motivated now to get my resume updated.

Some people have been wondering what my plans after college are since I have the link set up on my page...
Welcome to my journey of deciding what to do after I graduate.
I am currently awaiting my final semester at JMU, studying psychology with a minor in English. Way back when in high school I decided to become a psychiatrist. When I found out the amount of time needed to spend in BIO and CHEM labs for pre-med, I decided medical school was not my thing (I HATE biology almost as much as I HATE chemistry). So, I adapted and adjusted...deciding to go for my PhD and become a clinical psychologist. This was back in my freshman year. I figured I would graduate May, 2k and go into grad school in Fall, 2k, two years after that I would be studying for my PhD.
Now we are in reality. I went through a bit of a personal hardship in the fall this past school year, setting me behind a semester. It's ok, though. That experience taught me how precious and beautiful life is and everyone that is in it.
As for my plans after graduation, I am not too sure. I do plan on getting a real job...saving up money for grad school so I can get my masters in psychology. Ultimately, I would love to end up in Toronto by summer of next year (moving there immediately after graduation would be even better).
My interests in possible careers span a wide range of choices: human resources, in take counselor, management, anything involvning music...and basically anything that is offered to me. I plan on taking every opportunity that is handed to me.
So, we'll see what happens. Resumes need to be produced, suits need to be bought, and I need to go to a few interview training seminars.
In the meantime, I'll be waitressing at Gecko's. :-)
If you or someone you know would like to offer me a job or receive a copy of my resume for possible distribution to employers, I would greatly appreciate your email. Write to me at [email protected] and I will respond promptly. :-) Thanks! ~Amy
