| In the meantime, when Crystal felt she no longer had to keep close tabs on the NeoFae, she became aware of the behavior of her sisters. Particularly how the men made them neglect their duties, and this she could not have. So, she decided it was time to give the men a job. "You will be the tenders of the orchards," she proclaimed early one morning. "I want to have the sweetest fruit, the most crunchiest nuts and the finest berries throughout the land. Everything picked at perfection, nothing being wasted. I want the 'False Ones' to be envious of our wonderful crops!" |

| "You!" Crystal called out. " Dits, Des, Dex...�WHATEVER�...just what do you think you're doing keeping Marigold away from her duties? We have an entire camp to take care of, not to mention our other wards, and Gaia herself who needs constant tending. It's not fair that you men get to lazily lounge around while my sisters and I do all of the work. That's why I've given you and the others the job of taking care of the orchards. Go now and join the other men." "But, but," Dex stammered. He was struck by how suddenly Crystal had appeared and what she had said. He struggled for the right words. "Marigold and I...�we care so much for each other. Uh...we want to be�....together!" Crystal laughed. "Marigold care about YOU?" She began to poke him in the chest to emphasize her words. "You are nothing compared to us. We are the first born of the Goddess JyM, created in her image. Why, you don't even have wings! You can't even begin to deserve Marigold's attention!" Dex looked towards Marigold for comfort and support, but, Marigold was too frightened to say anything. She stood with her arms crossed, looking disinterested. Crystal noticed the glace towards Marigold, and she decided to dig her finger a little deeper into Dex's chest as she said, "You are to stay away from Marigold. Understand?" Then, quite suddenly, Dex began to cry into his hands. "This isn't happening!" He sobbed, unable to be consolded. |

What was this? Liquid was flowing from Dex's eyes making them red and puffy, streaking on his cheeks, getting his hands wet. And Dex sounded absolutely miserable as he wailed uncontrollably. Well, Crystal certainly wasn't expecting anything like THIS to happen, and she was satisfied with the results of this confrontation. No one had ever cried before, so Crystal and Marigold didn't know what he was doing, or why. All Crystal knew was that Dex sounded dreadful, and that made her very happy. In addition, she was relieved that Dex didn't attempt his "magic" on her as the other males. It kept her thinking clearly. With a single snap, Crystal sent Dex, still blubbering, and the other men into the orange orchard, and Marigold to the Shrine. She felt a change of pace would do Marigold some good, and praying to the goddess all day would take her mind off of Dex. |

| Crystal notices that one of the men is missing. |

| Crystal turned towards the men to find them smiling at her seductively, each winking at her in turn, raising eyebrows, shifting their weight in a very captivating way. Suddenly, Crystal was falling into a deep, soft, velvety blanket of flowers, birds singing, her head beginning to swim and�.... She shook her head violently and found her senses clearing. Crystal was NOT lying in a field of velvety flowers, the birds were NOT singing, and she was NOT going to fall under the spell of the men! "Never mind!" Crystal shouted. "I'll find him myself". Then she was off, flying low above the camp, searching, until she saw Marigold and Dex in their little clearing at the edge of the camp, finishing their morning meal. When Crystal landed, barely making a sound, she sent a mental message to Marigold to stay out of her way! |
| Then Crystal noticed that she was only speaking to five male Fae. She looked them over carefully, Tangerine and Orangey starting to twitch uncomfortably because they knew that Dex was missing. "Where is Des?" she asked sweetly. "You mean, Dex," Tangerine said. Crystal's head snapped as she turned on her with a harsh glare, sending shivers up the spines of both females. "Whatever!", she snarled. "Where is he!" "Uh..." The two Orange Fae quickly cleared their minds as much as they could to keep Crystal from reading their thoughts. They didn't know where Dex was, but they knew that he and Marigold were together. "Hmmm," the false smile returning to her face, "you're not going to tell, huh? Well, perhaps his friends will." |
| Dex sobbed miserably into his hands, which made Crystal very pleased. |
