Chapter Two,
part 3
The Fae and The Birth of The Foel
Slowly, before
the Fae, a face emerged from the clouds directly above them, icy blue with cold
steel eyes, yet the heat of many suns emanated from it. He spoke directly to Crystal.
“YOU
THINK THAT YOU CAN SUPPLANT ME AS THE CREATOR? YOU WHO
ONLY
EXIST BECAUSE I ALLOW IT.”
“Who are
you? Where is our Goddess, JyM? Where
is our Mother?”
“HOW DARE YOU QUESTION ME, YOU INSOLENT CHILD! I AM THE I AM, THE BEGINNING AND THE END, THE ALPHA AND THE OMEGA! I AM THE CREATOR OF ALL THINGS! “
“We listen to
only the Goddess JyM, OUR creator. You do not frighten me.”
A bright light
flashed through the sky and several strands of lightening came straight down
from the clouds in eerie electrical strands.
One split a tree and it crashed in front of Crystal. Her sisters screamed and scattered, running
around in circles, confused. Yet,
Crystal stood unaltered and faced the Supreme Being.
“AND
NOW, CHILD, I TIRE OF YOU! ALL OF YOU! THIS EXPERIMENT IS OVER! ”
Another bright
flash and the sky were lit as if it was noon.
The clouds opened and a deluged fell upon the unsuspecting Fae. Gaia rumbled and weaved, the core of her
belly beginning to rise as the ground cracked beneath the Fae ready to swallow
them.
Then there was
a loud cry from an unseen being.
“NO! STOP BROTHER, PLEASE! DO NOT DESTROY MY CHILDREN! PLEASE, IF YOU MUST, PUNISH ME FOR I ALLOWED THIS TO HAPPEN. DO NOT DESTROY MY CHILDREN FOR MY OWN FOLLY, I BEG YOU.”
Then, quite
suddenly, the storm ceased, the ground was still and the sky grew dark again.
The Fae stopped screaming and stood quiet, shivering as they folded their wings
around their wet bodies. Without a word, they quickly ran in unison for the
shelter of their nest. Their whimpering
and sniffles could be heard as they coward in the dark too frighten to use even
simple magic to dry themselves or to create any heat for warmth.
Crystal was
still in the clearing staring up where the Supreme Being had appeared. She smiled.
“I knew you would come,” she said low to herself. “I knew the bound between us was too strong,
that you would not let anything happen to us.
I knew you would come. And now I
know that even your brother can not stand between us.”
Crystal turned
to see her own children huddled under a tree, also wet and frightened. “No, my children, no need to cry. Our Goddess will protect us. She loves me more than anyone and she will
never let any harm come to any of my children.
Go home. Assure the others and rest.
I will come to all of you tomorrow and we will continue our happy
existence together as I promised. You
will no longer be animals of the forest, but creatures of the light.”
So, the Foel,
the aberrant creations of Crystal, came to live with the Fae.
