Moon Magick
The Moon, for Wiccans, is far more than a beautiful silvery, heavenly body that might catch our eye as we walk or drive aroung late at night. For many wiccans, she is the embodiment of the Goddess, She is Maiden, Mother, and Crone.
It is a VERY important source of energy in magick, if you perform your spells in the right lunar phrase. Performing the spell at the wrong time of the moon could possibly ruin your spell, either producing no result or a very wrong one, like the opposite to what you asked for.
The wheel of the moon is Approx 28 1/2 days long, Waxing to Full, and Waning to New.
New Moon
The New Moon is the time when the Cycle starts all over again and the Moon is not visible in the sky. This is the time for new begginings.
The best time to work with this moon phrase is the day of a New moon and 3 1/2 days after.
Things to work for are: Beauty, Health, Self improvement, Farms and gardens, Love and romance, job hunting and networking.
Waxing Moon
This aspect of the moon is visible, a half cresent in the sky, in the shape of the letter D (without the stick on the left) for Developing. This is the phrase in between the New Moon towards the Full Moon. This is a time for spells to attract, positive change, love spells, gook luck, and growth. It is a time for new beginnings, to invoke, to conceptualize ideas.
During this phrase of the moon, it represents the Goddess in her Maiden aspect. This period of the moon lasts about 14 days.
Magickal workings include: Elemental magick, courage, luck, friends, motivation.
Full Moon
The Full Moon is the time when it reaches its peak. its visible in the sky, showing a perfect, silver shimmering sphere in the sky. This is a time for in creasing Psychic ability, transformation, fertility, and invocation to the Lunar Goddess. It is a time of power , strength,and love.
At this time the moon represents the 'Mother' aspect of the Goddess.
Magickal workings for the full moon last for 3 days before and 3 days after the full moon.
Magickal workings include: Knowledge, healing, love and romance, families, dreams, competition, children, psychic powers, self-improvement, beauty, health and fitness, change and decisions, money, artistic endeavors.
Waning Moon
This phrase of the moon means that is decreasing in its size, forming a visible C shape. It is a time for spells of banish, remove, release. A time to break bad habits and addictions. This is a time for Divination and deep intuition. This is the time of the Crone aspect of the Goddess.
Magickal workings include: banishing, breaking, removing, releasing, and the like.
