14th Century Poland: A collection of links

Hi, this is basically a collection of links to help myself and possibly others in a quest for more accurate SCA re-enactment of Poland,
focusing between the late 14th & early 15th centuries... I've not really found much in English yet, but I'll add to it as I find more stuff.
Also, pages seem to come & go fairly often, so if something's down, check again in a few days...
Disclaimer: I can't spell. With the exception of names, this doesn't fuss me.

This will probably be always under construction... and is turning into as much an annotated "links log" as I find things...

To Start

The SIG's (slavic interest group) Polish Knowledge page. A good begining

an introduction to Medieval Poland another good begining, with a bibliography at the end

PolTran, a polish/english translator. Not great, but better than nothing.

collection of Polish re-enactors groups, spanning most of recorded history, according to a wonderfully helpful Polish man, Wojtek Wilk, who sent me the link :) THANK YOU!
The English page isn't up yet but will be "soon"...

Clothing & accessories
Polish Costuming Resource mostly 16th/17th c. stuff, but tends (I think)
towards extant examples. Unfortunatly, does not cite references. Check out the belts on page 6.

Men's clothing and Women's clothing from a Polish website. As I don't speak the language (yet), I can't *quite* understand the text, and thus
(excepting pictures I've seen before) can't say which are period & which aren't, nor which are of Polish origin and which aren't. The whole site
is a good place to wander, in general, I think!

A general overview site of my period, again in Polish. This site is listed above, but I felt like mentioning it here, too.

14th century pictures from AE Online , where I got the idea to collect links online for others to share, rather than just keeping them on my my.yahoo bookmarks file ;-)
These aren't as well referenced as my lil student's heart could desire (occupational hazard), but some are clearly of Polish origin :)

Polish clothing? I think this is an "overview" site of Polish clothes... I like it because the images have a bit about where (& when) they're from!

Overview of medieval armour, I think... the body-armour ('Zbroje') link has what looks like extant pieces.

Caligraphy & Ilumination
These are manuscripts that are either Polish in origin or housed at Polish libraries.

Florian psalter One of the oldest texts written in Polish (it's actually in Polish, Latin, & German)
From the late 14th century... found at the Polish National Library

Kodeks Baltazara Behema, I don't remember its English name, but this is a manuscript from 1505... late for me, but still cool!
from here, the top set of links to the right are other Polish manuscripts...

collection of manuscripts
At (I think) a Polish art institute...

Polish search results*what happens when you type "polish" into Web Gallery of Art's search engine

Old Polish Literature's English page... translations of period Polish lit.

Other Periods
16th c. portrait I HAD to include this portrait from 1597 of Katarzyna Ostrogska... it's the only Polish pre 1600 portrait that I can remember
finding! I recenty saw a few sketches of men in the 15th century, but foolishly failed to document where...

So...
That's what I have so far... please email if you have sites to add! Stefania, sismith42~at~yahoo~dot~com
