A mysterious cube of unknown origin is floating thru space. Uncaring, unknowing this behemoth has wandered aimlessly amongst the stars for untold aeons. Entering a little known and out of the way planetary system this relic from another race of beings is struck when passing through an asteroid field.
It's trajectory altered the alien cube falls toward a blue/green planet and is captured by the planets gravitational field. The atmosphere burns and screams from the intrusion of this alien device. Finally it comes to rest its impact creating a huge crater. As time passes the land heals itself covering the alien artifact. For unknown Millenia it lays, buried beneath the planetary crust.
This artifact is revealed as the All Spark of the planet Cybertron. A planet populated by Sentient Robots, Self-aware technology. No one knows where the All Spark came from or whom its creators were, all that matters is it is a very powerful object sought by many. Some to gain power to take over worlds, others to protect those worlds from that very power.
So begins the tale of the Transformers. The Autobots came to our planet Earth in the hopes of keeping the All Spark away from the Decepticons.
Michael Bay is the executive producer and director of this movie version of The Transformers. Hasbro invited him to learn about the Transformer Lore and was hooked. Shia LaBeouf did a good job as Sam Witwicky, the young man mixed up in the Transformer war. Of course, he had to have a hot girlfriend Mikaela Banes played by Megan Fox. I'm sure many teenagers will identify with these two 'young'uns'. For young adults there was Josh Duhamel as Sergeant Lennox and Tyrese Gibson as USAF Tech Sergeant Epps. Their team of Army Special Forces first encountered the Decepticons in the desert of Iraq. They continued the fight, protecting Sam on the streets of Los Angeles and getting some payback on the Decepticon Blackout.
All in all, it was a large ensemble cast that lent true credibility to the Transformer Movie. This just wasn't about the war between Autobots and Decepticons, this movie was also how humans would react to such a threat. In my opinion this movie showed a true 'rendering' of how the U.S. Armed Forces would react to just such an invasion. That alone lended credibility to the Transformers Movie.
Suffice to say, The Transformers is a very good family movie. Definately well worth seeing on the Big Screen. It is fun for all ages and for fans and non-fans alike!
