“Take Me Away”
My insides shine happily
I’m thinking again, but I’m not sure why
When I remember what once was
You send an electric shock to my head
When I begin asking “what if…” again
I stop feeling so dead
Stuck in this world,
I choose to mimic the music
Bouncing off the walls or
Floating slowly downstream
Inviting the voyeurs to watch the show
As those who once loved me prepare to go
I trick the hummingbird into singing aloud
But my vision creates a split in the crowd
Nobody told me fantasy’s not allowed
So I just curtsied, then I bowed
Offstage, nestled safely back in your heart
I fall asleep and dream inside my dream
You shake, as if to wake me
Please take me away
Before my big red heart fades to gray
